High Beams and Light Bars. F4 to turn on the Auxiliary Lights(Light Bars)

I suggest pressing L twice to get more light.

I agree

High beams (press k when lights are on) give more than enough light. Passing cars will flash you, but pay them no heed, they are just selfish (and drunk, judging by the way they drive).

Put upper (roof) light bar first, it'll give you higher beam, allowing to see a bit more. But really, I don't have problems with lights and I rarely use high beam.
Additional beacons could be used to give you surrounding lightning, but they are dim, so if you drive with highest speed possible, you, probably won't get much use from them.

I wish there was more lighting on the roads but you really gotta pay attention to the sat nav and surroundings. Turn lights on with L and press again for beams and if you hold L down on the high beams it really boosts your view.

this game is supposed to be a sim, it is not dark enough for long enough at night. Nightime should not only last for 4 hours. And the the way the headlights are modeled is perfect.

Another, and very simple, option is to go to the graphics menu and move the 'light'-slider slightly up for night-time driving. I know it's not 'realistic', but hey, it's better than crashing because you can't see where you're going. Also works for photos during the dark hours, when all you would normally see would be the headlights and maybe the contours of the truck.

That's five hours of darkness - 23:00>04:00 :) Nice summer, I don't even know what month it is - when it is exact sunrise?

I agree. Lighting is my biggest issue in this game. I can be merging onto a motorway and never see a car coming up in the lane until it hits me (apparently they're not too smart). Also, you can't see cars coming towards you until they're right in front of you. I really wish this would get fixed. It's not even close to realistic.
