Truck won't accelerate... (total noob here)

So I just picked up this game via the winter sale. Okay.....this is ridiculous. My truck won't accelerate/throttle no matter what. It just revs the engine and makes it look like the truck is in neutral. I can get some serious RPMs going, but the truck won't move.

I just barely started the game, and can't get anywhere (literally). I'm using keyboard controls and have real automatic transmission settings. EVERY key works except for throttle.... I don't think I should have to shift up at all when using the settings I have on....but all that happens is the engine making a lot of noise and the truck just sits there still. Is there something I'm doing wrong?? I checked all key mappings, restarted the game several times, changed to mouse controls, etc etc....and the truck still remains stationary as the engine revs to red line.

Thoughts? Has this happened to anyone else?

I've never encountered it, but maybe the parking brake is on? It would be "logic" that an automatic transmission won't engage with the p-brake on.

Do you use logitech steering wheel ? If you use, uncheck combined pedals from logitech software. Also, assign gas and brake again. Its probably because of that.

You're using automatic transmission the only thing u have to do is put it in D / N / R
Drive, Neutral and Reverse so basically u have to shift up once to get it out of neutral...
If that's not the case maybe your retarder is on basically something that brakes your truck
or highly unlikely tho you put an axis key to motor brake and it brakes ur truck constantly

The O/P clearly states they use keyboard controls. Wake up. Apparently your throttle is working or you wouldn't get engine rev's, so I'm going with Nicken here. Not sure what key's control shifting, but it sounds like your not in gear. Maybe someone who use's keyboard can tell you what key's are for shifting or look at your key bindings. Don't worry, you'll get it. :)

Going by memory here: Shift gear up: Left (or either?) shift. Shift gear down: (either?) Ctrl.

The spacebar is the default key for the parking brake. Maybe you pressed the spacebar by mistake and your parking brake is on. Click on the spacebar again (it will disengage the parking brake if it is indeed engaged) and then try to move your truck.

The OP is using the keyboard. Combined pedals is not the issue anyway. I have combined pedals selected and I can accelerate and stop without any problem

If it is the parking brake ( if you mean the same ) normally the Route Advisor would display a message that it is still on if you want to drive forward/backward.

When using realistic gameing mode you have to wait until the compressor fills up airbrake's drum. So wait a couple of minutes with running engine.

Ahhh, my intelligence took a hit. I did indeed figure out how to change gears. I simply figured that the controls the tutorial told me to use would work. THAT is not the case. Maybe if I'd used even easier controls, then I wouldn't have to shift gears. The tutorial said I didn't need to do so, but I figured it out!

Shift puts it into Drive and Cntrl will put it into Reverse. Now all is well!!

a auto will engage with p brake on i had an aunt that drove around town with her p brake on it doesnt do it on the new automatics but it did on older ones

in game settings there is an option to take speed limiter off ;-)

i just pressed alt + tab, and then went back to the game, that worked for me :).
