How do you disable the auto updating from within the game?

As in the auto updating of the game itself? You don't disable that in the game.
Right click the game in the Steam Library. Go to Properties. And find the setting that asks if it should always be up to date or not.

Ok. Some time ago, I started up this game and it asked me if I want automatic updates. I said yes. Now I want to undo this. I don't want the game auto updating when Steam already does this.

What Jerry told you was for steam, if you have the game activated on steam, steam will be the only autoupdate function operating

Like margalus said, if you have the game activated on steam it'll only auto-update on steam.

You don't have that option because that option does not exist.

I dont know where you see this, that option does not exist.


BLAIN: Select: Only update when launch it. Below that disable background downloads.

If you do not want your game to update to 1.35 when it comes out, because of mods etc you need to check on Steam first if the update went live. Then go into Properties-Betas and select a previous version of the game i.e. 1.34
