In all fairness though, the hard part was figuring out how to use the SCS extractor on the game files - once you had done that actually adjusting them was very simple, just a matter of finding the data field you want and inputting different numbers. Now that my friend got his head around it and then showed me, I might be able to do the odd small tweak on my own, idk.
As to ATS, yeah I've seen the info about that and it does look good, but I have to confess I really fancy the idea of driving a big rig down some of Europe's twisty, narrow mountain roads. I'll probably pick up ATS when it comes out because I'm impressed with SCS's quality and want to support their work, but I'm not sure it would quite appeal to me the same as this game, which is closer to home for me, does.
I'm nowhere near Europe or America so Im pretty excited about ATS. I just get bored because I've seen the same thing over and over again-since I played it without mod or anything.
I hope the developer will add some new fitur instead of making skin for truck again; random events, real weather and interactive dashboard cabin or else..
performance - volvo
but the new Streamline Scania also has great power, if you choose highline or topline cabin you can upgrade the engine to R730 instead R540, Volvo top upgrade is 750. Which is almost the same..
is that even a thing? I don't know Scania have 8x4 chassis. Is that a mod?
I've never been a fan of Scania's looks, but I will admit the R does drive well and is pretty stable. However I tried trading my R in for the Streamline, and half way through the job I took to test it out I pulled over to the side of the road and loaded in an autosave from before I traded in the old one.
It seemed like the Streamline was significantly down on power compared to the R, even though I had the most powerful engine installed, and it was nowhere near as stable either - it came close to rolling over much easier than the R model. And it didn't look very much better to boot, so I figured I'd be better off with the old one than the new. Not that I drive Scanias much anyways, my main truck is a Volvo and I have an Iveco and Renault Magnum for occasional fun drives too...Scania is way down the list.
However, I built my entire empire on Volvos due to them offering the best bang for buck for HP.
I also had a similarly priced Scania with much lower HP that would struggle to drive up the steep slopes in quarries, so I do feel Volvo offer a lot more for your money.
A fully upgraded Scania is awesome though, if expensive.
What cabin did you get to test the Scania? because Scania R normal model top engine is R730 but Scania Streamline normal model top engine is R540 :(
Yea, the upgrade is expensive, I agree. So you bought the Scania for yourself but bought Volvo for your employees? What type of Scania did you get?
The biggest. It was the 700+hp engine I had in there, that's certain. But even so it didn't pull as well as the R, and lost a lot more speed going up hills.
I agree. I love the volvos but the new scanias V8 interior is so clean and the black grill with the sideskirts with the pheonix paint job. Done son!
I wanna a good truck with a good design, why is it so hard? Why don't they just let us have 2 trucks? :(
And as to the decision - is it really so difficult? You could choose a decent truck that pulls well, drives well and handles well, but is grotequely ugly. Or you could choose a fantastic truck which pulls even better, drives even better, looks absolutely sublime, but is just a tiny bit heavy on the steering.
I know what I picked, and I still don't regret it one bit :)
Besides, the speed that you make money on this game, you'll soon have enough to buy the other one as well, so you can have both eventually. The only decision you have to make is which to get first.
