It's much-of-a-muchness between skills, except for eco-driving, which only reduces fuel consumption and not by much. Not upgrading garages to 'large' will literally save you millions in the long run.
Long distand and ADR should be first priority, then High value/Fragile for the cash bonuses.
When upgrading to large only costs 50k per garage slot versus 60k when buying a new garage plus you get a fuel station there at wholesale prices.
You can have a max of 153 drivers. ETS2+GoingEast has 85 cities. Each of those cities has a certain number of jobs available at any given time. The more drivers you have competing - against each other, mind you - for jobs in the one city, the higher the risk of the message "so-and-so couldn't find a job". If the drivers also look in neighbouring cities for work, how far is "too far" to travel for jobs? The further they drive "free roam" the more it costs you.
To maximize profit, imho, you need a garage in every city. Upgraded garage or not, that's basically 2 drivers in every garage.
In my view, recouping the 100k upgrade cost, will take centuries based on fuel cost saving alone.
This means the only reason for upgrading to a large garage, is the fuel saving. 'Paying off' a 100k investment by euro/litre will take a very long time. Not upgrading any garages - assuming you have a garage in every city - will save you 8.5 million.
