Best skills for hired drivers?
Currently, I set my drivers to invest their skillpoints into long distance, ADR and high-value cargo (so each driver has 4 points in long distance and 2 in ADR and 1 or 2 in high-value). Should I aim for more ADR, JIT or something else?

Long distance first and adr secondly.

Should I max those out?
I usually go for Long distance 3, then balanced.

I usually do Long Distance to about 4, then a mix of ADR and High Value cargo. JIT and Eco driving are usually last

What I've been doing on my profile is to get my hired drivers 1 each in Long Distance, High Value, and Fragile then max out the ADR's before going balanced. A lot of times you'll need that fragile point for them to be able to do ADR runs and bring in the big bucks.

Several short, but higher price per km jobs will pay more than one long distance drive over the same period/distance. What type of loads these shorter jobs entail, is largely irrelevant.

It's much-of-a-muchness between skills, except for eco-driving, which only reduces fuel consumption and not by much. Not upgrading garages to 'large' will literally save you millions in the long run.

Eco driving is handy if your drivers fail to find jobs a lot as it lowers the cost for fuel.

Long distand and ADR should be first priority, then High value/Fragile for the cash bonuses.

When upgrading to large only costs 50k per garage slot versus 60k when buying a new garage plus you get a fuel station there at wholesale prices.

Granted. But I think from a business point of view, you gotta take a few things into account about that 100k expense of upgrade.
You can have a max of 153 drivers. ETS2+GoingEast has 85 cities. Each of those cities has a certain number of jobs available at any given time. The more drivers you have competing - against each other, mind you - for jobs in the one city, the higher the risk of the message "so-and-so couldn't find a job". If the drivers also look in neighbouring cities for work, how far is "too far" to travel for jobs? The further they drive "free roam" the more it costs you.
To maximize profit, imho, you need a garage in every city. Upgraded garage or not, that's basically 2 drivers in every garage.
In my view, recouping the 100k upgrade cost, will take centuries based on fuel cost saving alone.

Care to elaborate? I just upgraded one garage to large because I thought it might save gas money when drivers can refuel at home (IF they do this), also it is at a pretty good place already.

For the same reasons I mentioned in the post above. With the vanilla game and Going East, there's 85 cities. 153 drivers in those cities means 2 per garage (ish). You only need a 3 slot garage.
This means the only reason for upgrading to a large garage, is the fuel saving. 'Paying off' a 100k investment by euro/litre will take a very long time. Not upgrading any garages - assuming you have a garage in every city - will save you 8.5 million.

I focus on 1 skill at a time untill they reach skill level 3...so ADR level 1 2 3, than I switch to the one below that untill all are level 3 (exept for eco, sure they don't have to refuel as often..other than that it really has not impact), once the driver reaches level 3, I work my way up gaining 1 at a time and once all maxed than I do eco

ive found ADR HVC and LD make most profits so far let each driver specialise in 1

Thanks, room, for explaining. I will act accordingly.

Well, that's just the way I did it. Once I got to 500million in the bank, apart from one driver and his truck and a garage for him and me, I sold all my trucks, fired all my drivers and sold all my garages.
