Alarm clock
I"m just getting started with ets2, but I'm having trouble managing my sleep. If I'm 2 hours from a delivery and close to the limit on rest cycle, it seems like I should be able to pull into a station, fill up and take a nap for an hour. An "alarm clock" addition to the game would be great. How often do truckers get a chance a a full 8 hour sleep???

sorry, but nope. Doesn't work that way in real life either. Once you reach the limit, you have to be off for a minimum of 11 hours I think it is. At least in game it's only 9 hours.

Hi there.
You can turn off the fatigue simulation in the options of the game. I really don´t like this kind of thing, but I can't determinate how much time to rest, so its no other way. If I wrote something wrong I'm really sorry, my English is a little rusty.

Actually they do every day. In Europe there are certain rules for truck drivers.

- "Workday" is the shift of a truck driver from starting with work till finishing work.
- "Week" is 7 days, starting at Monday 00.00 and ending at Sunday 23.59.
- Per "workday" they're allowed to work for maximum 15 hours, but only 10 hours driving.
- After every 4h 30m they must rest for at least 45 minutes.
- The 45 minutes rest can be split up in 2 parts, where the 2nd part needs to be at least 30 minutes. (Example, after 2 hours driving 15 minutes rest, then another 2h 30m driving 30 minutes rest.) They are in no way allowed to go over the 4h 30m without the needed rest.
- When the 4h 30m driving time hasn't been reached within 6 working hours, they have to take a 30 minute break. (This rules is for the drivers who are doing short distance work, like distribution within a city.)
- Per "week" they're allowed twice to extend the maximum driving hours to 11 hours. This makes no difference for the 15 hours per workday.
- After a "workday" they have to take a minimum of 10 hours rest. (daily rest)
- Per "week" it is allowed twice to decrease the daily rest to 9 hours.
- Once a "week" they must have a 45 hours rest. (weekly rest)
- Once per 2 "weeks" it is allowed to split the weekly rest in 2 parts, where the first part has to be a minimum of 24 hours. The other hours have to be taken the same "week" in one whole. (Example, driver takes 26 hours rest, later that "week" he must take at least 19hours rest without doing any work within those 19 hours.)
- Per "week" they're allowed to DRIVE a maximum of 60 hours, but no more than 90 hours in 2 "weeks".

That's at least some of the rules a truck driver needs to know.

Now in this game the 45 minute rest isn't applied which means you go straight to the daily rest every time you rest.

WOW. I'm the rookie who would be pushing it to the limit if there were no laws. This game is awesome. Thanks for the info!!

Yeah, I guess if the dev's would obey the official rules there won't be a lot of time able to actualy play the game haha.

Agree that the actual rules are too complex for the game, but I too would like an option to take a shorter nap (which sort of already happens on shorter ferry routes).

<sarcasm mode> Was wondering a bit there about the loudness of all these rules. Naturally you mean, allowed. </sarcasm mode>

LOng ago I just gave up on the sleep simulation thing in this game.
I fixed the issue by disabling that.
I simulate it on my own by my own rules, though would be nice to have a 3 hour increment sleep to use instead of solid 8.
Eh, real life, who needs it. zzzzzzzzzz.

.. or you could alter the economy_data.sii file and make your driving hours 960 (minutes) and your rest time 480 (minutes) giving you 16 hours drive time with 8 hours rest.
Note that ferry rides also count as rest in ETS2.
