Paint skins not showing up

Well another problem I have encountered, so I am throwing it upon the experts here who have done so well helping me already, it concerns mod skins for the Volvo VNL 780, I have downloaded a few from the mod sites all for this mod Volvo, yet none show up within the game, can anyone help me here please

Maybe it's mod imcompatability? Are they loose files?

not sure what you mean by loose files, each file is an .scs file for the Volvo VNL 780_v1.2 (Gamamod).scs, screenshots are on site as well as video and the skins look great on it, one was uploaded May this year

Did you enable the skins in your profile then? That's the reason I asked. SCS files appear in your modlist in your profile. Loose files don't and need a diffrent approach.

yes I activated them, they are .scs files but none show up at all

Then all I can think of are the following reasons:
1) The skinmaker(s) didn't flag their files correctly.
2) You're in the open beta and the files aren't on patchlevel.
3) The skins are meant for another version of the Scania VNL mod.
4) Other mods are keeping the skins from appearing.
5) You run too many mods.

Sounds to me like the Volvo VNL skin isn't pointed to the your VNL that you have. Which is an easy fix in the def file for the skin itself. Course, not much I can do without the skin nor the mod, and even less I can do if the truck SCS mod is locked and I don't want to go through the hassle of cracking it open.

1) don't know about these things
2) I am patched to 1.18.1s
3) the skins state for the version of truck I have
4) would not know about them
5) only have a handful of mods mainly paint jobs and a mod to colour the world map

but thanks for the help, guess I will just have to make do with the 5 or 6 basic colours..cheers

This is where your problem may be. Try disabling the other colormods and see if your new paintjobs show up now.

will do, have just noticed that the harley davidson mod for the trailers are showing after sleep, but the harley davidson truck skin still not showing

I d/loaded the same Volvo you did. I hitched up a Jazzycat 60ton locomotive and hauled it from Stockholm all the way to Hannover. I un-hitched the trailer and found I couldn't get away from under it, even though there was a clear gap between the trailer's pin and my turntable. It was like I had the maxi brakes on. Which I hadn't.
I couldn't move backwards either. Couldn't hitch the trailer again because I couldn't move back far enough to attach the trailer. The only way was to cancel the job. Which I didn't have.
That worked.
I quick travelled to a nearby garage, saved my game and then tried another job in that town.
Same result. Couldn't back far enough under the trailer to connect. Yet the game said the job was already accepted and I could neither swap to another truck nor take another job. I had to cancel the job. It was the only way of getting free of the trailer.
So after getting free I quick traveled back to Stockholm (home garage) and swapped out trucks back to my trusty Kenworth. No problems after that. Hitching up to trailers was normal in Scandinavia, but not in the vanilla map. Bizarre.
Sold the clunky Volvo.

actually I hate bikes, I'm a car person, but the combo skin for my Volvo look very nice and I want it, but cannot as yet get it, except for the trailer

Does it show up in your trailer browser?
Click "About" on your home screen. Then click "Trailer Browser".
That will list all trailer types available. If your mod trailer is there, it'll be in the game, you just have to find a company who has that trailer for cargo.

actually that happened to me when I hitched up to my xmas cola trailer, I thought I was missing the hitch point, but after a few clunks I got it hitched, and on delivery I had to floor it slightly to get away, so it's not perfect, so I am just roaming as my garages are making more than enough money

yes I have the trailer with the Harley colours on it, just cannot get the truck paint to show up, it's just not in the shop, but never mind, I'm thinking of going back to my Scania anyway
