G27 on ETS2 - impossible to get rid of wheel lag!
So, I've tried basically all the tricks in the book (internet) to get rid of the lag I experience in ETS2.
To start from the beginning; A couple of days ago I decided to hook up my G27 wheel+pedals to ETS2 for the first time. I installed the Logitech Gaming Software from Logitech's website and did the calibration to get started. Inside the game I had some small issues to get the 1:1 ratio of the wheel. I ended up with 780, which was near perfect. Some 'over rotation', but not too bad.

I then managed to run the Geforce Experience software for my Nvidia drivers and accidentially did the optimiztion of ETS2 through GE....which has completely ruined the whole use of G27 with ETS2.
Now I'm experiencing some horrible lag within the game - no matter how what I try. This is what I have tried to far:

- Remove the Geforce Experience software
- Re-calibrate the wheel/pedals
- Cut the power of the wheel/pedals
- Changed USB ports
- Created/deleted the profile for ETS2 within LGS - turned rotation from 200 to 900
- - Done TONS of different settings experimentation inside ETS2 and also with the LGS, and also in parallel with ETS2
- DIsconnected the wheel/pedals and gone back to use keyboard and then try G27 again - same result.

Whenever I turn the wheel in-game it doesn't react immediately, there's at least 0,5/1 second delay before the wheel turns, no matter what kind of rotation ratio I try. It even feels like the wheel sensitivity (in-game) does not react properly. It's even too sensitive and completely impossible to drive with, or there's simply not enough sensitivity to be able to drive.
On larger turns (emergency turns etc.), the wheel does not respond nowhere close to how I actually turn the wheel.

Anybody...please help. And yes, I have searchd a lot of postings here in the forums and elsewhere, including youtube.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards,
untz

Sensitivity full (all the way right), non-linearity none (all the way left)? Also, turn off V-sync. That tends to cause input-lag.

Hi,
I've tried the sensitivity - right, non-linear - left. That's actually the way I had it to begin with (before the optimalization), after tips from this forum.

Where do I find the V-sync?

Cheers,

I found the vsync setting and turned it off. No change. The wheel is 'in sync' for the first quarter turn, and then it goes off to be too inaccurate, almost another quarter beyond how much I actually turn the wheel :/

In the latest update, SCS updated the trucks to have 900 degrees of rotation. Try changing your Logitech Profiler to 900 from 780 if you're experiencing problems with the wheels not syncing together.

On an older machine i had, I experienced that kind of lag in other racing games - turned out to be my graphics settings were too high for my machine - i called them "micro lags" .. lol. The FPs was good but it manifested in inaccurate steering input. If i dropped some settings it was better. I only say this because you said this started after you ran the GeForce optimizer - did the optimizer increase any of your graphics settings (you should see that on the optimization page when it ran)? If so, try dialling back down whatever it increased and see i that works.

Hey,
Thanks for replying. I have tried to set it to 900 as well..no luck with that.

I would go into your documents folder and find your ets2 folder . Delete the config and control files and start again . If it worked before you had nvidia monkey with it then thats the root of your problem .

Also go into your geforce driver settings and reset the game options if its set any on there .

For correct 1-1 set to 900 in profiler , In game linearity to full left and set sensitivity to suit . Full right for me makes it way too twitchy . Mines about 2cm from full left and thats fine for me but everyones different so have a play with it .

Hey,
Thanks for replying and sharing your experience.
I did acutally revert back to the original settings via the GE after it got out of sync - but unfortunately it didn't do any good. I also double checked the settings in-game not be on Ultra, but High (as it was before.)

Ok, so the config and control files will be generated again during the next launch? Thanks, I'll try that! Hopefully that will solve it. If it does, I'll report back.

Does your Logitech profile software have an entry for ETS2? Make sure it points to the correct .exe, 32bit or 64 bit. Even if you have enabled software to overrule LG profile.
Had the same problem and searched for days.

My settings:
profile software: 900 degrees, game can overwrite switch on

In Game settings (my personal):
sensitivity: about 1.3 cm from right
non linear : ca 1.3 cm to right from left

wheel reaction: full to the left

It started working when I redirected it to the correct exe within the profile software.

That GE experince crap I removed from my pc some months back. Waste of time if one
knows how to set up setttings anyway.

Make sure GE Nightmare Experience did not set scaling to something your system
can not handle.
I did not note you bothering to mention your hardware profile, which could lead to
some clues others could use to help you.

Do not run scaling above 200 unless you have beast GPU and appropriate CPU (as in GTX970 or equivalant assuming standard HD screen resolutions.

I'd suggest going to 100 scaling, default, for now. Also the MLAA the game uses
is a FPS hog and if you are having massive issues, toggle that off for now.

Above 200 scaling MLAA offers nothing useful , least to my eyes.

Post your system specs.
Using G27 here and not having those issues so something is goofy there.

Hi,
Yes, I have a profile created which points to the x64 version. That's the only version I've used for quite some time. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the feedback.

It seems this issue is finally solved. What I did was the following:

- Reinstalled the LGS, did the standard calibration and made sure it pointed to the right directory (64-bit)
- SCALING: it was set to 125%, probably by the GE software. It reduced it to 100%.
- In-game setting is 900 for wheel rotation
- Sensitivity ca. 0.5 cm from being far right, and non-linear ca. 0.5 cm from far left.

I can't believe I didn't check the scaling earlier..but oh well.

Thanks again,

Happy trucking!

I have the same problem pls help i have Logitech Driving Force wheel before 1.39 i didnt lag and i have a good pc
AMD Ryzen 3 3400g
Amd radeon rx 560 2gb

Check the dead zone of the steering axis. The slider should be all the way to the left.
This solution is only intended if the steering wheel does not respond immediately when you start to turn left or right from the center, if this does not solve the problem then it will be difficult to help you ...

Next time, don't use old topics, some comments may no longer apply.
