Have you any mods installed? It's possible that one of them could conflict with a change from a recent patch.
There IS an option for the speed limit to show on the satnav. Maybe if you unchecked/checked it, went into the game (so whatever change takes effect;) and then back into the options to check it back.
I thought I had checked/unchecked it by accident so I reset the options to default. I have restarted ETS2 since then, but with no change. I have also tried the different options to see if that made any difference, but they didn't.
Going East
High Power
Fantasy Paint Jobs
Ice Cold Paint Jobs
Force of Nature Paint Jobs
As far as I know, I have not downloaded any other mods
How can I find the version of the program?
I guess it's possible that part of that patch had gotten corrupted - I wouldn't think that it'd take down just that part of the game though...
It's worth a shot, though!
How do I verify the cache?
I verified the cache, and it reported that all files were validated.
I then started ETS2, and made sure that the options were set to default
However - still no luck
the speed limit on GPS was added in game version 1.11 or 1.12 can't remember, 1.10 and earlier doesn't have it.
There's a few things that I can think of off the top of my head.
I wonder if you are using the latest version... To check this go to your library and look at the game's properties. Make sure under updates, it is set to "Always keep this game up to date."
Next, click the Beta's tab, and make sure in the pulldown menu it says "NONE - Opt out of all betas."
Finally, go into your game and as soon as you get control of the game, you should see your profile. Look in the top left corner, it should read: "1.12.1s" (Which is what mine is, anyways.)
I am running version 1.12.1s
I have the game to Always stay up to date, and I am opted out of all beta programs
I was wondering if I delete and reinstall - will I lose my game and have to start again?
You could always dig around and find your save game folder and copy it, then replace it when you reinstall if it's not stored online.
That SHOULD have been what verifying the game cache is meant to prevent. It's suppose to repair the installation so people don't have to completely reinstall if something goes wrong.
I have heard of people going in and just deleting folders of their game files, and verifying.to get Steam to redownload just those portions. If you could find the folder that contains the gps files, then you can delete it and verify the game cache to have the same effect as reinstalling the game.
