Steam Deck Controls Broken.
This game is verified as steam-deck compatible, which it isn't anymore. almost no buttons gets registered by the game. This issue is from last year and have seen no updates or even announcements.

Either it should be removed as steam-deck verified and there by linux verified with refund options for those that bought the product while advertised falsely. Or the issue should be fixed.

Or you set up you input correctly.

Btw. Steam input and Steam deck verification is done by Steam. Go to them if you want to complain.

see.. These are the same bot responses i get on this topic.

My control settings are done correct and work for everything else. If you got nothing constructive to add and just want to troll. I suggest you go back to twitter instead of roaming this forum 24/7.

i'm kindly asking you to participate nicely and constructive or move on. Thank you.
Go complain to Steam about Steam input. No, SCS does not own Steam. If Steam messes up stuff with Steam input it is not the problem of SCS to fix.

I know this isn't the answer you want as the only answer you want is "SCS sucks!" and various other versions of that.

no. I told you. Be constructive. You aren't. And i already had you blocked. So i know this just what you do. pls. So like i said, bye bye.

Also, its not like using in-game inputs makes it better. it makes it worse as you can't even steer then.
So anyone with actual experience in this is more than welcome to actually give constructive input to the issue that seems to be at least 6 months old. Maybe more.

Tell Steam. Venting on here is pointless:

This is the Steam player to player forum, NOT SCS, the actual game developers.

Sadly, nobody on here can "fix" anything in the game itself, we can only help and advise players.
These forums are NOT the official way to contact SCS, so any comment on here is unlikely to get any response from them.
All bug reports, suggestions, etc should be posted in the SCS forums. If it isn't reported there, it won't be fixed.

Currently there are three ways how to bind controller input.

1) The native one without Steam Input. This supports long press for majority of bindings (with exception of those which are always hold only, like horn) and also supports modifiers however no double presses. UI control hints show correct buttons including modifiers and press duration.

2) Steam Input using "Steam Client Mapping" mode (set in game options). This is how SI worked before. The binding is fully configured in the Steam client as before. If you have preset created before 1.51, you need to load the official one and apply your modifications again. Otherwise the config will not work properly. The UI control hints are unable to show information about long/short/modifiers needed to activate the input.

3) Steam Input using "In-game Mapping" mode added in 1.52. This mode uses special "Simple" action set which binds the controller elements and actions basically 1:1 in Steam UI and rest of the binding is configured using the in-game binding the same way the native mode works. This also requires that you load the official profile to ensure that the action set is configured correctly.

If you think it is a bug in the game itself:

For any first timer, read here before posting a bug report:

Bug reporting process is here -https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=16653
SCS do not accept bug reports from modded profiles.

If it isn't reported, it won't be fixed. if it isn't a game bug it won't be fixed by SCS.

Is that "constructive" enough for you? If you had taken the time to do a bit of searching you could have seen the timeline and fixes posted for controller problems in this forum and the SCS official forums, and fixed all the problems yourself.

!. Steam input doesn't work with steam-deck or ps controllers in ETS2 as the issue is making both me and others seek solutions or just answers as to if anything will be done with the current issue.

2. Like i said. ETS2 does not work with steam input and the in-game input doesn't register most of the buttons on either steam-deck or ps controllers.

3. again. The same. It doesn't work with Steam-Deck or ps controllers.

I have already reported this about 6 months ago and like i said again. I have not heard anything announced on the issue. Do others have to report the issue as well ? is it like a % of the users that has to report issues before they react on it ?
I might be the only one having the issue today. But in december we were more having the problem and even more even longer ago. I think i'm the only one actually still here trying. My guess is others have moved on and just left the game behind with a personal experience with the product that is now bad.

I'm trying to report and put focus on it because this is a situation where both parties benefit from the information being processed. It's good for the developers to be informed as they want their game to function and be a pleasant experience for first time players so they don't refund because controls don't work. And it's in my personal interest because i can't play the game as of approx 6 months ago. Each year that passes my son gets older and one day we won't have these days together anymore. I invested in this game for him and me to spend time together. And now we have accumulated his brother and some friends to join us. But we do this budget as we are reasonable both with economics, data and privacy surrounding the kids when using software like OS like windows. So all devices are running linux. These issues are on steam-deck and all linux devices as of about 6 months ago.

I notice your choice of word "venting" I'm not venting. I'm just being direct about the issue. As it's how i've been raised. To be efficient. Nothing i have said has been a vent.
But maybe what you sense is that i've tried to solve this and get answers and focus on it for 6 months. That is not venting though. That is still just being direct about the frustrations that follows in order to communicate said frustrations to be understood as it is not just a. "hi, just turned on the game and this isn't working".

Hope this sheds some light on my post here. So i can refer to this message instead of having to repeat any of this again.

But thanks for the reply and info. Though it wasn't news for me, you could not know that. So thanks anyways.
I never have any problems with my gamepad, or my joystick, or my wheel, or my pedals, or my shifter.

You must be on a data collecting operating system with AI intergrated in it then. I'm running linux to avoid these kinds of issues normally. So everything just works the way i've set it up. But for this game. It's a constant battle. Almost like they are sponsored by microsoft or something.
You have been told by others who also use Steam Deck and Linux that it works if done correctly. Yet, you are still ignoring this.

1) SCS is not responsible for issues with third party controller mapping tools (e.g. Steam Input).
2) If you don't have the right drivers for your input device then don't expect it to work.

Both are things you have been told. Both are things you keep ignoring. Don't blame the devs for your shortcomings.

Edit: Since I know you will claim that you haven't, there you go:

who ? who have told me this?
I told you yesterday to stop trolling. If you don't personally have any issues. Why are you roaming the discussion page for this game 24/7 if not to troll?

I also mentioned for you yesterday that others are having this issue. And that the issue has been ongoing for over 6 months and that the others that were asking for solutions and answers have more than likely moved on to other games.

So like i said yesterday. Be constructive or move on. Goodbye, bye bye, have a good day. Bye! right ? you understand english right ? goodbye, bye bye, bye, goodbye. Do you understand. I don't want to talk with you as you troll. I've blocked you. So why do you continue ? is it fun for you, cause it's not for me. Leave me be. Stop harassing. Stop engaging anymore as i will stop engaging with you. Leave me be. Stop. Goodbye. Bye.
What's pointless is your post.
Not bothering to take on board what you have already been told and trying to blame SCS is your fault, no-one else's.

yeah i'm the issue here. I'm trying to solve an ongoing issue and you 4 just drops in here as a big group trying to push me down. What constructive have any of you 4 constributed here ? all you are saying is that i'm wrong and everything works. How about all 4 of you move on?

Ask your linux friend if being a linux user is something that can make windows fanboys pop up everywhere and try and troll you? Could be you are seeing my frustrations as what you are calling "being an A-hole" But notice how i am saying stop, goodbye and move on? I'm not the one that does this. But i'm not gonna let people like them recruit people who actually want to help to start looking at me as an issue. As i'm here trying to solve an issue. And THEY are here trying to gaslight me and troll.
what are you talking about windows fanboy ? being in a group ? calm down insted and ppl will help you being rude like you are right now is not ok.

hope you learn someting from this i was gonna help you but see you being like this to me now sorry no help from me or my friend did show him this and his message to you there is a guide on reddit about this that he made and you can go and find it your self was gonna link it.

this is the last thing i gonna say here
