Germany Rework Unfinished
Everybody's talking about the UK, or Going East, and now we're getting a Benelux rework, but Germany rework isn't even finished yet. The assets seen from the highway are usually from Vive La France and Scandinavia and stuff, so they look completely out of place in Germany, and even worse, most country roads still look like mobile game graphics! Why can't we drive through scenic half-timbered towns, and zig-zagging hillside roads like real Germany? Why did only the urban centers get all the love, with *some* country roads included too.

Rework started back in 2017 (IIRC). If you expect the same level of detail from that then you are mistaken.
I would think that as far as SCS is concerned the Germany rework is complete. If you want more then you will have to install Promods.

Now im curios....which parts of germany are you referring too?

Apart from some historic city centers you wont find that many half timbered buildings anymore, and such roads might only be found in some mountainous areas....where usually no trucker would drive trough as it is faster to take the main roads.....

If you want to complain then it would make more sense to mention stuff like traffic lights which only are on the right hand side of the road and such things

I always find it funny when people say this, when I've literally been to Germany myself multiple times, and in many parts of the country, Half-Timbered houses are scattered about pretty much everywhere.

Also the small mountainous roads literally are on the map already, they just look like ♥♥♥♥♥♥ copy & paste assets

Let's take the small road between Dortmund and Kassel, now, I don't know what road this is meant to be, but let's take the B251

Now let's take a look at some towns along the B251

Freienhagen https://maps.app.goo.gl/8mt1BTBttSe8Q59TA

Neerdar https://maps.app.goo.gl/Daw9c6enBhTYueko7

Dörnberg https://maps.app.goo.gl/muhsNETph77TUaJy8

Habichtswald https://maps.app.goo.gl/HFEdQxaUkbG2KT6r5

Has SCS ever stated that the rework is complete, though? They only said the *cities* are complete, as far as I know at least.

From Berlin rework announcement:

"Berlin was the last German city we had to rework which means that all the cities in the Germany Rework project are now done! We will keep you updated about other ETS2 news and the Germany Rework project as well on our social media (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok), so make sure to follow us there."

And which of these are important for trucks AND fit on a 1:19 scale that leaves them with more than maybe just one house?
Freienhagen: 289 inhabitants, 4km²
Neerdar: 111 inhabitants, 5km²
Dörnberg: 384 inhabitants, 13km²
Habichtswald: 3k inhabitants, 28km²
House in the forrest: probably 1 inhabitant, 0km²
Kassel: 197k inhabitants, 106km²

If the game was on a 1:1 map you would have a point. But none of these are remoetly big enough to be really considered due to the scale of the map.

1.40 also brings the final phase of our Revisiting Germany project which a small team of mappers has been working on.

You could say the same about Ettal, Winklern, Realp, La-Roche-en-Ardenne (coming in the Benelux rework)

Damn, that's a shame. Countries like Austria and Switzerland got so much more love (probably because of their small size)

If only they would've forced us to pay for the Germany rework, then they probably would've put more resources into it. (The DLCs have a much greater quality than the reworks, because money)

I would've paid for it lol

Germany is my favorite country in real life, such a shame that it'll be stuck like this for the foreseeable future. Oh well, maybe Promods can do something...
Unpopular opinion I suppose, but I partially agree with OP that some roads in Germany are still lacking behind on quality, the cities are great and so are most highways, but there are some other roads that aren't very much better than the Benelux and the UK (and a few of the first map dlc)

Ettal: 769 inhabitants, 14km²
For Winklern you need to be more specific as there are multiple towns with that name.
Realp: 158 inhabitants, 77km² (Much bigger than the other cities you initially mentioned)
La-Roche-en-Ardenne: 4k inhabitants, 147km² (Larger than Kassel)
All of that can be looked up btw.

Or maybe acknowledge that the rework was done when the quality that SCS had put out wasn't the one they have today.
And as for your point of the DLCs having much greater quality then the reworks: Go to the "Going East" DLC and tell me that again.
SCS has been improving in quality over the years. Older DLCs (and also reworks) are lower quality than the more recent ones. It is more than plainly visible.

I don't feel like arguing anymore, so, okay.

Nice puro pfp by the way.
The Germany rework seemed more about updating assets that providing a more detailed and expanded overhaul. It makes the base game look a lot better but it's not all that interesting to drive thorough due to a lot of copy and pasted aspects. Still, it's a free update and it at least makes the drive between the adjoining DLC more consistent in terms of visual quality.

I hope any update to the UK is a bit more varied and detailed though.
