step 2: slam forehead on desk
step 3: return to step 1
anyways, jokes aside:
the reason that it will wont work is because there is still modded parts in your profile but the game doesn't recognize them as such, hence causing problems.
1) active the mods you were using in the game version you were using before ♥♥♥♥ went sideways.
2) sell off every and all modded items. ALL OF THEM. no exceptions.
3) return to title screen
4) go to mod manager --> deactivate all mods. ALL OF THEM. if needed, unsubscribe from workshop mods.
5) exit game
6) go to steam library --> rightclick ETS2 --> installed files --> verify game file integrity. this may start some download(s). LET IT FINISH 100%
7) start ets2 again as you normall would (DX, OpenGL or whatever, thats up to you)
8) create a brand new ::UNMODDED:: profile, go through tutorial and a few quickjobs, see if things work.
if things work, 2 ways to go from here:
option 1: try the old profile now, WITHOUT ANY MODS AT ALL, and see if it works. if it does, you're good. if not, go to option 2.
option 2: take the loss of the old profile for what it is and use the newly created profile as your new 'main' profile.
hope this helps. also maybe surplus advice but anyways: always check mod compatibility BEFORE going past the main screen. if there is a little window that says "new game version blah blah", DO NOT (i repeat DO NOT) continue your career, go to mod manager and instantly deactivate ALL MODS before continuing.
Just deleting mods and load the still altered save anyway == issues almost guaranteed
If only we could have some forum search for all those poor "issues after update" people... ;-)
2. Try to reproduce aforecited bugs.
3. Report all reproduced bugs following this - https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=16653
It is now a fine old tradition on here, together with "the update killed my fps" "the update killed my controls" "the AI traffic is useless", "when does the new xxxx DLC come out", and "the new DLC map doesn't have my town and every house, including mine, in the map"
The hard-of-thinking will never change, and they'll never read SCS blog posts or use the search function here.
would it be an idea if we start a new tradition here in parallel, where every question about those topics gets answered with "Sprinkles!" , or "Unicorn!" or some stupid ♥♥♥♥ :P
Oh no, we would be accused of being "toxic" if the OP doesn't like the answers they get.
We have to reply with the answers THEY want, not what is true, appropriate or funny.
