New Volvo FH won't shift into 12th gear
I bought a new Volvo FH and when I drive it doesn't shift into 12th gear. The highest that can be shifted is 11th. When I shift into this gear manually (as sequential), the automatic immediately shifts to 11th. It looks as if the gearbox had gears for the USA where the permissible speeds are much higher than 90 km/h and not for Europe where there is a speed limiter. It makes no sense.
The same situation is with the new Iveco. There is no such problem with older trucks in the game.

Try using the weakest engine power, let say 420 HP. Higher your engine power, more likely you won't reach highest gear more frequent.

I have 500 HP because that's what they use most often in long-distance transport. After all, in reality, in a Volvo with a 500 HP engine, the automatic engages 12th gear. I don't know what SCS has come up with, but it probably has little to do with simulation.

try playing around with your auto gearbox settings (eco driving, power driving or high power driving). you will find that each setting shifts at different gear ranges. trucks are supposed to shift relatively low rpm's. anything above 1500-1600 rpm is pointless. it's a truck driving game, not a race arcade.

I have set the driving to economical, so it should change relatively early at lower revs. But, OK, I'll check if something hasn't changed.
Depends on both the engine and the transmission chosen. There is also a variation between the 2021 and 2024 model years. The D13K500 for example has different torque curves depending on model year. There are also 2 different 500hp engines available for the 2024 model year, also with different torque curves.

A quick test drive shifted into 12th between 92 - 94 km/h, (around 1300 rpm). This was using the 2024 model year, ASO3812G R transmission, and D13T500 engine.

I checked and I have the economy mode set.
As for your driving, in Europe you can't drive at 92-93 km/h because trucks have a speed limiter of 90. Unless someone illegally changes the software.

That's why I wrote that what SCS did here is pointless, because a gearbox with such ratios would be suitable for the US or Canada, not for Europe.

what you could do (if they still have it in game, that is), is checking your keybinds for Shift Up Hint and Shift Down Hint. these are under "keys + buttons" of your settings screen.

binding these two to certain keys/buttons will basically force your truck to shift up or down while in auto transmission if said key/button is engaged. could be a work-around for getting to 12th. fair heads-up though, the gap between 11th and 12th is relatively big so the transmission -might- decide to shift back to 11th. just play a bit with it and see if it works?

But I play on the steering wheel and I have the sequential change of the gear on its paddles. I wrote in the first post that after manually engaging 12th gear, the automatic returns to 11th, even at speeds close to 90 km/h.

then maybe instead of automatic, use the sequential gearbox instead to avoid it dropping back? just a thought, of course

Is your load 44 tons or heavier? Note that the differential ratios for FH6 are smaller than its predecessors, so 90 km/h at 12th gear is nearer to 1000 rpm, which may be too low for that weight uphill.

Also, check the transmission's condition. While it may not have damage, its wear might be high enough to lose a gear.
