how have you found it ?
This is like when two babies meet and ask each other about the taste of a lemon that they have never tasted before. :)
Try it yourself for the true answer. The answer of such a question is subjective since everyone has different preferences.
Since systems aren’t the same it could be interesting to see, if SCS has slipped in some optimization under the hood. I’m just about to install it and try it out myself.
the point being if someone recommends something I want to know they have tried it and found it ok..i'm no ones guinea pig
- Microstutter/frameskipping is back - not even g-sync+v-sync can tame it. It's present no matter where I drive. Countryside, city, non-reworked, reworked etc.
- FPS seems a tiny bit higher but nothing revolutionary.
- The overall graphics quality seems a little better overall.
- Taks manager in Win shows multiple CPU threads in use when the game is running. But it is unclear if multicore support is now active and working.
I have only looked for better performance. And the beta does not deliever anything close to being remarkable on my system. I would actually say the opposite because frameskipping/stuttering has now reappeared. And no matter what I do I can't get rid of it.
When it comes to PhysX - I see no difference wether PhysX in the NVCP is set up to auto or the GPU is selected manually.
So performance wise one big disappointment - at least on my setup. The new game additions is kind of meh - I haven't investigated the new loading system and that seems to be the only game changer in the 1.54 release.
Conclusion - stay on 1.53 and try final release of 1.54 and hope it's far better than the beta.
Huge bummer. It's disappointing that SCS still hasn't sorted out the obvious performance issues and with the 1.54 beta they have actually made things worse. I really hope this gets sorted out in the final release. But I'm beginning to believe it won't be.
1 step forward, 2 steps back. Hopefully they iron it out before final release.
I would prefer two steps forward - one back. Otherwise it's all endlessly down hill. :-D
At this time, I do not believe they've made any performance changes at all. At least not noticeable. I still don't understand how you have such massive issues after 6 months of this.
1.53 is running ok on my system. It’s not 100% perfect but it’s playable without getting annoying.
With the 1.54 beta stuttering / frame skipping is back in full. And that makes the game unplayable for me. I really hope this is fixed in the 1.54 final release.
SCS has been working for over a year now with their DX11/12 hybrid solution and further optimization. We still have to see the final results. However - from 1.50 to 1.53 there has been minor improvements. But the 1.54 beta is a step back.
I’m beginning to think that ETS and ATS for that matter won’t be fully optimized before sometime during 2026 - maybe even 2027.
In this matter I really hope I’m wrong. ;-)
I tested the following versions:
Temporary_1_53: Clear image.
Temporary_1_54: Blurry image.
