You can set this in the properties so you don't have to do it every time..
This is my opinion..based on having PC's since 1984..
So i'll just say this, I don't want yet another bashing for having an opinion..
If you are given a choice between OpenGL and DirectX, there's no harm in trying them both out to see which works best for your system. OpenGL might provide slightly better performance on an older computer, but using DirectX will probably result in a more visually-pleasing experience.
EDIT. Make sure you check your video card has support for dx11/12
323bit is unsupported now and hasn't been used for many years.
Current requirements for the game are:
Minimum
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or similar
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon RX 460 or Intel HD 630 (2GB VRAM)
Hard Drive: 25 GB available space (Euro Truck Simulator 2 base game)
RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-9600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or similar
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 590 (2GB VRAM)
OpenGL is a last resort for very old PC's and is very low quality compared to DirectX, GFX cards should be DirectX 11_1 level minimum, and preferably DirectX 12 for future compatibility.
Once you've chosen DX 64bit, you can set it to always open that when you use the green "start" button in Steam.
Hard Drive: 25 GB available space (Euro Truck Simulator 2 base game)
That's the version you selected the previous time.
For example if you have issues with DX11 and chose DX9 to see if it makes a difference, then close the game and totally forget abt it, the next time it will use DX9 unless you choose something else.
