New content coming to ETS2 and ATS - Summary of SCS's Christmas Stream 2024 (un)announced projects
Like every year, SCS recently hosted a Christmas stream announcing their future plans regarding ETS2 and ATS ( source , footage starting at 48:50). Here is a quick summary for those who might have missed it:

  • Rigid trucks ("straight trucks") are finally coming to ETS2. Target release: 2025
  • Color picker paintable bars/parts are finally coming to the truck customization screen.
  • Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway are getting partially reworked. Team already working on it.
  • Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are getting reworked. Team already working on it.
  • New trucks ETS2: DAF XD Electric, 2 Mercedes Benz trucks (1 rework), MAN Euro 5 (rework), Scania Super
  • New trucks ATS: Cascadia, Kenworth W990, Peterbilt 579, Peterbilt 389 (rework), Volvo VNL (fuel and electric)
  • New trailer pack for ATS: Walinga
  • New cargo pack for ETS2: Krone Green (agriculture)
  • Windows of buildings will be replaced with realistic 3D-looking interiors (already added in Winterland)
  • Missouri DLC (ATS) will feature underground depots. ("Small underground cities")
  • The next Driving School update will contain "something new which will improve the game in general".
  • Seasons will eventually come into the game, too complex to say when.
  • More "universes" like Winterland are likely to be added to ETS2 as a testing ground for "Seasons".

Other interesting highlights:

  • Content is being released faster now because of new tools and people. Still aiming to go even faster.
  • Releasing ETS2 and ATS on other platforms "will get attention next year(s)".
  • SCS collects no player data, they create content purely based on people's reactions.
  • SCS continues to update old content to make old players stick to the game and to attract new players.
  • SCS has no ambition to become a super profitable company, they just want to remain stable.
  • SCS usually releases new truck models for free because their partners want to see players driving it.
  • SCS added the Driving School because companies have asked them for a professional tutoring option.
  • Random lost cargo events were added as an experiment to Winterland in 2024 to boost exploration.
  • More Electric trucks/features will be added over time "as it reflects the real world's development".

Remember to check out the source for actual footage/screenshots of all of the above.

Correction here: The interiours of buildings are NOT going to be 3D spaces. They are still 2D but will have a parallax effect that makes them look like it is 3D. Thus there is no actual rework on the models done other than applying an effect.

According to Sisl it's actually the Euro 5 that's getting a rework, not the Euro 6

After reading the stream summery again it has made me change my look on the games and SCS - for the better. Both games are a constant work in progress and SCS company strategy is a very healthy one especially for us the players. I needed to fully understand that and I needed to embrace these facts as positive facts.
Being patient, lowering expectations and just enjoying the games. Quirks and all. 👍🏻

A big thank you to all in the community who contributes to the development of the games. It’s clear now that the games and SCS are far from the EA money sucking strategy. And thank god for that. 🙂👍🏻

I'd like a direct quote, but this is not my impression. I believe at best this will be 2026.
