Stuck on "Downloading update information. Please wait."

When i load ets and ats, the game shows a box that says "Downloading update information. Please wait." I've tried everything I can think of to get into the game and past this screen, but to no avail, and nothing has worked. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks.

You're not alone. Been dealing with same problem since yesterday. Wait long enough it'll "finish". Then sign in takes forever and fails. Gives me option to retry, play offline, or just give up. If you play offline WoT is unavailable. I gave up for the time being.

Clear the Steam download cache and restart Steam.

If the dialog has a "Cancel" button, just press it. It won't harm your game if that update information not downloaded. I prefer release notes along with update download rather than crappy update information where always triggered everytime the game started.

This "update information" feature would be more useful if SCS more aware to provides update notes on every updates, regardless it's a major update or just tiny update with short list of changes.

If you're looking for an answer, I actually have a solution. The problem is WoT I have found. Disable it by cancelling the "Downloading update information. Please wait.", go to your profile, edit profile, delete your name from the name bar, this should get rid of your password too, and hit apply. This disables WoT. Now you can go to "Continue Career" and load your latest compatible save. Job done.

Go to options -> online, and uncheck the first one (or all three of them if that doesn't work) under "general settings"
