What's next? [MAP EXPANSION]

- What do you think will be the next map DLC after the release of the Nordic Horizons DLC? -

Well! As we can see on the map of Europe, in my opinion there are two options left (excluding the Heart of Russia DLC) [no hate, I want this to be released as soon as possible] Coming back, I think the Further East DLC including the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, or the Anatolya DLC, the map of Turkey, which will connect Turkey with Russia through the Caucasus in the future.

Before anyone ask. No I'm not stating any view point on this. This is just the current reality of the world.

Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus are likely under the same issue with the Heart of Russia DLC. Moldova is the most odd ball of the 3. It's like Serbia and Kosovo except Transnistria the break away state want's to be apart of Russia or be a puppet state due to their perceived (and from what I can see valid) view point that communism was better then the current government.

Ukraine is in a active war time situation and Belarus may at any time join the war.

Turkey may end up with a Heart of Russia DLC situation due to Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq and Israel situations.

Now in terms of what I think will actually come. Ireland (the island, northern Ireland and the country) will likely be it's own DLC despite what some of the old timers think. I also think that Iceland will come.

I have heard some rumors (ATTENTION: RUMORS) that there has been found clues of a new island being added. If that's true, it could be Ireland, but it would be odd without UK. It could be also Iceland, which would certainly be odd choice for DLC.

If above would be a future we're not gonna face, then my opinion is that rest of the Turkey is the most obvious choice. Alternate could be Morocco. One can argue that neither of them are (really) Europe, but there's not really much else (politically stable) left.

If you watch the SCS Christmas live stream, they mention on what is on the horizon. From 48.10 in the video you can see a number of file folders the ones for ETS2 are be_rw folder, the nordic_horizons folder and a sndva_reskin folder.

They then go on to what they have planned for the future, it is the be_rw and sndva_reskin folders that are the most interesting, and in the video they say what they are for.

Talking about Scandinavia re-skinning (whatever that is) and rumors... SCS pretty much made us assume that no DLC reworks will be before UK is updated. I'm not complaining, I've said several times that Denmark is at this time on the condition where I try to avoid it if reasonably possible (Poland by any means necessary), so I'm not complaining here, but it seems that one can't trust even SCS official channels, and that's OK, things change, priorities change, but you know, it's getting harder and harder to predict the future....

Note that Scandinavia is listed as a re-skinning, not a rework, so don't expect Germany/Switzerland levels of updates.

Probably Iceland. It's a small island, yes. But since the UK is 1:15 instead of 1:20 like everything else of europe, Iceland probably gonna be 1:10. It's far in the ocean. SCS Software can make it easily twice as big as european mainland countries without any problems.

Most of Scandinavia road network is good outside the cities. Some of Norway could use some reworks since it still has some pre road interchanges update stuff but is otherwise good. But the details are just horrible to me overall so it's good to see at least some good stuff is coming.

SCS when they get to the UK are going to fix the UK's 1:15 scale to 1:20 as the UK is older then ETS2. The UK is going to be the last base game area to get remastered.

Updating textures and adding effects to an area that really really needs rework is just ridiculous.
One would think that since Nordic Horizons is in the works it would make good sense to rework the existing southern part of Scandinavia.

There are other areas that need the rework more. Benelux (which is underway), the UK and Going East all need it more then Scandinavia.

A touch up for Scandinavia now and rework in a number of years is the better choice.

I agree - but it still doesn’t make much sense not to have a complete Scandinavia - old areas reworked and then combined with Nordic Horizons when NH goes live.

This is what they did already for both France and Italy. The existing areas in those countries were touched up to coincide with the new DLCs.

Yeah they want to do some updating in Scandinavia, so it is not so jarring when Nordic Horizons is released.
