Xbox One X Controller Randomly Disconnects
This is the newest model of the official Microsoft controller (model 1914) and upgraded to the latest firmware (5.5.2641.0). It is connected via Bluetooth (along with a mouse).

This is the only game giving me this problem, and I do.n't see any in-game settings to change anything. I set it up using the input wizard. While driving a load the controls will stop, the truck will veer off the road and the game will pause with a "Hit F1 to Continue" option. The controls will work again for a short while before cutting out again... and again.

I also play American Truck Sim and the controller stays connected just fine with (I believe) the same setup (using the input wizard). I also use the controller with most of my Steam games and this is the only offender.

To the best of my knowledge and what I can see, the Steam controller settings should not be affecting this (I have them all turned off except for "guide button brings up steam overlay).

I'm not sure if I missed a setting somewhere in ETS2 settings, but I can't locate anything specific. Thanks All.

Both ETS2 and ATS use the same controller setup. If you've got it working in ATS you can copy the controls.sii file from the working ATS profile directory into the non-working ETS2 profile directory, over-writing the file that's there.

I'll give that I try. I figured it had to be the same :) +1

Tried that and it worked for about 100 miles before happening again. I re-ran the input wizard and it, too, only worked for a short while. I have the BlueTooth drivers (Intel AX200) up to date, so I'm blaming the controller on this one. Internet searches show that others are getting random disconnects from this latest Xbox controllers. Hopefully a new firmware is in the works.

Thanks.

Sounds like a device time-out to me. I suggest checking windows power settings and making sure your USB port is set to never be disabled.

I use to have this problem in the past with my Xbox One controller. I plugged it with the controller's charging cable ( wich is more than enough long) in a USB port on my PC and it never happen again since then.

Power settings for USB & Bluetooth are good. I'll try hard wired with the charge cable next time and update here.

I have this same problem like DarthSwede. But i plugged a wire and i still have randomly disconnect situations - any ideas?

Yes :( I ended up uninstalling / reinstalling to get it to stop. Mus have been a wonky config somewhere. (I also removed everything from my documents folder related to ETS as well)

On a side note, there are a lot of Uplay games that I have to use the controller as wired, but no fixes for those yet.

Hello i have this exact broblem. Xbox controller and logitech steering wheel randomly disconnects in ets2 but with ats it never does that...

Did somebody figure this out?
DarthSwede Sep 22, 2024 @ 3:24pm
Only way I "fixed" it was by completely uninstalling and removing any trace of ETS and then doing a new install :(

Is your BT dongle old or new? I remember having troubles few years ago when not having steering wheel yet. I bought a new BT dongle and it solved issues in many games, but I am not sure was it this particular issue. Some issues resolved itself when I removed NVidia Geforce, that was stuttering, perhaps this issue too, I am not sure, it was many years ago. Something to think about and maybe try.

I'm using a laptop with the Intel AX201 built in. I do keep the driver updated, but no replaceable dongle. I suppose I could try to get a dongle and try it out :)
