So what regions are updated, which are not?
I've got all the DLC so I understand the recent stuff is...well recent, but I'm a little lost with the base game parts that have been updated, going to be updated vs the very old outdated parts. From my understanding for example britain is completely outdated (in the terms of graphics, updated roads, areas as retaining mostly base game elements) but other parts have been completely reworked. Aka it can be immersion breaking to visit older parts of the map/game.

Could somebody pls tell me what parts of the map haven't been updated at all?

TLDR: If you only want to play in the best areas stay out of Isle of Britain, Hungry, Poland, Czech Republic, Any city with the small grid pattern in Germany, France or Northern Italy, Benelux region, Denmark, Sweden (Norway is a tossup), and depending on who you ask all West Balkan countries.

The Isle of Britain is the oldest part of the map and many state (rightfully) the worst part of the map. This will be the last BASE GAME area to be reworked.

Hungry is just awful and is almost as in need as the Isle of Britain. Everything is super outdated and with the sudden change to "Road to black sea" and "West Balkans" makes it one of the worst areas in the game as of now. Dare I say that it needs a remaster more then the Isle of Britain.

Poland has had massive economic boom since it was put into the game along with the old outdated roadmap AND highways starting and ending inside of major cities. Warsaw in game for example is nothing like the real world version as it was 5 years ago.

The Czech Republic is a mix of being quite bad but also serviceable areas. But overall it's a drastic negative due to the drastic changes of nearby remasters.

In Germany there are several cities that have not had their remasters yet. You can tell if they have not been remastered if the overall city are in a small grid pattern. But the highways are mostly fine outside some elevation and grade issues from what I have been told. Truck only tolls have also not been added in yet but signs are there for them. Some cities that have not been remastered yet are Mannheim, Munich, Kassel, Berlin and almost all Eastern German cities.

Benelux region is overall passable but this is due to the overall size of the area being very small. It's one of the most outdated parts of the map but since it was done really well back in 2012 it's has somewhat held up (though compared to something like Switzerland is a joke).

Eastern and for me All of France is just this awful mix of highly outdated and semi new areas. It's kinda jarring for some reason to drive in most of France due to the sudden shift in parts of France. There are good parts of France but there are some really bad parts of France. Is it passable yes but France just feels off.

I am going to lump all of these countries together as they all feel "Fine" but have outdated features and some may surprise you. Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Slovakia in this order of worst to best. They all have this outdated feel yet at the same time, good to drive in. Somehow for me Slovakia one of the oldest parts of the game, STILL HOLDS OUT. I think it helps that there there is very few areas that feel bad. The side road speed limit also helps hide it's flaws. Sweden and Norway suffer from a Graphical issues and permanent roadwork zones but in return you have the start of what we see today with ETS2 and ATS road design. Denmark is kinda neutral. Idk how to say it better, it feels too dark green and suffers from grid pattern syndrome lol.

Northern Italy TOWNS and All Italian smaller road signs. The highway in northern Italy was updated for free but some of the signs are a bit lower texture then what they could have been and could use a re texture. But the worst issue with Italy is the Northern towns suffering from Grid pattern syndrome and have only had minor texture updates. While Italy may have some other issues it feels fine to take a trip through.

CONTROVERSIAL: I have little to say but I have read from people from countries in the Balkans talking about several cities in the area that have not given proper implantation and I have to agree with a few as it seems a little rushed for some. Things such as the MAIN TRUCK ROUTE not being implemented, improper location of major industries (SCS name change of course) and a few other things from what I have been told and seen. Some people from the area say that some locations in West Balkans were "clearly rushed" and "not done anywhere near correct". Some of these comments I can see while others I just think of the map scale and how not everything can be crushed into the (sometimes legit) minefield that is the West Balkans.

Why would you buy a game and then avoid parts of it?

Britain, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium. Parts of France were reworked with Viva la France DLC, parts of Germany have been reworked. Beyond that, not a clue really. To a point, Scandinavia DLC hasn't been reworked, so Denmark, Sweden, and Norway haven't been reworked.

Clearly you didnt even bother to read my post or you'd know the answer, also I've owned this game for a long time but haven't played for a long time.
Unfortunately I did read your post.

France is a huge toll road.. terrible..

If you want to avoid really old parts of the map then you should not visit Great Britain. The roads over there have not been updated since the release of ETS2 and I think part of the road network is still from ETS1.

I hope that they will update this part of the map next as it really needs an update.

Wait so there isn't any parts of the map any longer that are OG content? Thats really all i wanted to know.

You missed the first line where I listed all the countries that haven't been touched.

In short: You have obviously never explored the parts of the mainland on your base map that have gray roads and have therefore probably been reworked. England has not yet been reworked.
No DLCs have been reworked yet.

It is.
If there is a Hell, i`m sure it will be driving in France for an eternity.
A couple of minutes on the road then close to full stop even on autopass since the gates are insanely slow, drive for another couple of minutes and it`s the same garbage again.
And again and again and again and again and again ...

Pure unadulterated hate is not even remotely close to describing how i feel about driving in that dump.
Minie1000k May 28, 2024 @ 2:44am
I don't know if it is the case of France, but there are some countries that in real life are completely full of tolls, for example Portugal. and it is like that in the game too.
