This actually worked for me, give it a shot folks.
You're not trying to run the 64bit exe on a 32bit OS ?

In the folder C:\Users\user name\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2, there is a file config.cfg and in this file, there is that line uset r_mode with some infos behind it. These infos are width*height*color depth*vertical frequency. Change them so they reflect your current desktop settings, like one of these :
1920x1200x32x60
1680x1050x32x60
1280x1024x32x75
The line is the config.cfg file should look like that :
uset r_mode "1920x1200x32x60"
DON'T FORGET the ", the _ or the x, DON'T CHANGE the spaces
Save & Quit. Launch the game. It should run. Then you should be able to change the resolution to a lower one. If it don't run, you're out of luck and I'm out of idea.[/noparse]
