Game launches, but no video

Whenever I try launching the game, it pops up and has the audio but there's no video. I'm not talking like a black screen or anything, it literally just shows me my desktop. I have to tab out to get to anything, and have to force it closed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I just bought the game too and get your results. Have you had any luck with launching Euro truck sim 2 ?

this worked for me. Some games find it hard to configure with certain screen resolutions. Adjust your screen resolution. e.g if you have windows 7, at dashboard, Right click mouse, go to screen resolution, go to 1280x768. lower resolutions work better.

Im having the same problem, I have tried launching the game in all three modes (DX,OGL,Safe) but still nothing except the sound of the game starting and a frozen desktop till I alt f4. Please help....Windows 8.1, amd phenom 2 black 4x3.7, 12gb ram, saphire 4890 3gb, direct x 11

I want to run it in rift mode so have tried the steam vr & oculus betas with the -oculus launch command,they wont run either grr

I deleted and redownloaded the game and also validated the cache which was 100%. I also changed the resoulution as above and have also turned off the second display and still nothing haha.

Just curious, 12gb of ram? What's the point?

it was in there when I got it I know its excessive but there is no point removing it. I also assign it to a third monitor running off the MB. any Ideas on the actual question haha

haha I have even tried running it on compatibility mode for windows 7 & xp NADA. tried downloading one of the tempory betas and ill let you know

tried doing the steam beta update and still nothing. also, the game wont close when i click on it: i have to manually close it in task manager. very odd and frustrating. hopefully someone has a solution

It may not work at all but still worth a try ...

In the folder C:\Users\user name\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2, there is a file config.cfg and in this file, there is that line uset r_mode with some infos behind it. These infos are width*height*color depth*vertical frequency. Change them so they reflect your current desktop settings, like one of these :

1920x1200x32x60
1680x1050x32x60
1280x1024x32x75

The line is the config.cfg file should look like that :

uset r_mode "1920x1200x32x60"

DON'T FORGET the ", the _ or the x, DON'T CHANGE the spaces

Save & Quit. Launch the game. It should run. Then you should be able to change the resolution to a lower one. If it don't run, you're out of luck and I'm out of idea.[/noparse]

Be careful to know your monitor's refresh rate, ie If you use 75Hz, and your monitor doesn't handle that, it still won't work.
