If you want a fairly recent one (2006), then the Peterbilt 389 is as close as you are going to get for ETS2.
After looking at the Peterbilt website and checking out their 389 I guess the models that I'm seeing for it and ETS2 aren't so "old" looking as I had initially thought they were, just some inaccuracies in the modeling that makes them look older (such as steering wheels on the interior).
I know that one person has modeled the 579, just wish he'd respond if it's available for download somewhere or if he's decided to keep it to himself.
That 579 mod you saw might have a great exterior, but a default, or low resolution interior (unless you know otherwise) as is the case with a lot of American truck mods made by Europeans.
