Euro Truck compared to Hard Truck?

I got this game awhile back when it was dirt cheap, but the controls turned me off, I'm used to the old Hard Truck games, specifically Hard Truck 2 which won't work on my new PC, won't recognize newer GPUs. Anyways, I really wanted to replace HT, and this game looked like it fit the bill and I just finished the Batman games so I'm thinking of trying this again.

Those of you who played both, how does Euro Truck hold up to Hard Truck in gameplay? Can I upgrade and replace my truck? Start/run a full trucking company? Do any racing or such?

you can buy trucks, upgrade them with parts, paint jobs etc. start a company, hire drivers and buy bigger garages and trucks for them. no racing. plenty of mods and support for it.

The company management is there, but it's really nothing special. The charm of ETS2 is in the driving in a relaxed manner. For the next day you can get the gold bundle dirt cheap, so really little reason not to try it. But if you need to be convinced, there's a demo available from the website.
