If I have a pirated copy, can I copy my save file to STEAM version?

So someone held me at gunpoint and made me pirate the game and I got quite far, now I want to buy it because it's cheap and I'm poor.
I want to know if I can use my save file or do I have to start fresh?

Well pirated copies can be thought of as "full working demo". If he's not gonna buy he's not gonna buy no matter what. If he's poor and eventually buys, devs still get a sale, and that pirated copy might have just helped him make the decision to buy (save up over some time, and eventually able to afford it).

Exactly that. I don't care about reading what's missing or what's crippled in the demo. I want the whole thing. If I like it, I buy it. And I bought ETS2. Kinda wish I would have waited a couple weeks more. Would have saved another $10, but hey, long as some of that extra went to SCS it's all good :) After playing for 30 min I knew I was going to buy it. I did pick up the two older paint scheme packs today though!

One down side is you won't be able to bring over the hours, achievements, etc. If your into that sort of thing. I'm not but just saying.

Well, the demo on our site[eurotrucksimulator2.com] is the full game only with some areas restricted, so you can enjoy most of the game in the demo too. Same with the Steam version, but the Steam version isn't up to date (last build was 8 months ago - should probably upload a new demo build with AI changes soon).

Also, please don't report this topic (someone already did). Piracy just happens, I'm glad that Monst4 decided to support us.

Yeah, no problem, I always try to buy the games I like, but I got spoiled by STEAM, I never buy full price games here because I feel bad when they go on sale.
I was gonna buy it on winter sale but I literally had no money, not even the 6€ extra I needed for the game.
I got it now finally, so I don't feel bad for stealing a trully amazing game. I'm still blown away by how good you actually made this.
Thanks for understanding and sorry for pirating it, but I knew I will eventually buy it when I get the funds to do it :)
