If I have a pirated copy, can I copy my save file to STEAM version?

So someone held me at gunpoint and made me pirate the game and I got quite far, now I want to buy it because it's cheap and I'm poor.
I want to know if I can use my save file or do I have to start fresh?

Lol, I like that bit about being at gunpoint. IDK the answer to your question but I'd assume it would work if they're the same version.

if you buy it, i think you can save your profile and copy it over, but im not sure. You have to try it, but don't blame me if it's not work. You should have pay for it in the first place, it's becouse of pirated copies games cost so much if we all buy the game it would be cheeper. yes i know i sound like an idiot now. but it's the truth

These are the folders you will need, Mods - Online - Music - Profile. if you copy them over in your euro truck simulator 2 folder. i would think it will work. but im not 100 % sure. becouse i have never try it, i have bought the game to start with.

Ok, it recognized the save right away. The only thing now is, I'm using a mod called "Truck Sim Map" and it crashes.
I'll figure this one out hopefully.

if you use truck sim map you have to gt the new update for it, so it works on the new patch 1,9, and that goes with any maps mod they all have to be up to date

I had mod before when I had the pirated copy. I was able to keep my save when I installed it, it just reset my truck into the garage. I'll try the newest version to see if it works with my STEAM version. Will post results.

Good news. I downloaded the 4.7 version of the mod, it gave me warnings that mods are missing and game may become broken, but I loaded the save anyway, it reset my truck to garage and it works perfectly now.

yea thats message comes every time you take a mod away, and that your truck will be reset to your garage, is becouse you upgrade your mapmod, that don't means anything,
