Adding radio stations
Ok guys. I've been trying to add some radio stations to the game. However, while the default radio stations do work, these do not. Here's what I put below the default data:

stream_data[196]: "http://radio.canstream.co.uk:8004|resonance104.4fm - the art of listening"
stream_data[197]: "http://134.213.27.207:8000|NTS Radio"
stream_data[198]: "http://r2.dgen.net:8000|Rinse FM"
stream_data[199]: "http://wfmu.org|WFMU"

NONE of these work. Any ideas?

Seems like you're adding them fine - but they are probably not the correct kind of stream then?

make sure they are mp3. google where u live MP3 radio stations

I was looking to add these particular radio stations though. Perhaps they provide other links on their websites :sadcthulhu:

ETS2 is a bit picky about the file formats it accepts - only .mp3 and .mss will do. Radios often offer their streams as playlist files, which contain several specific link URLs which should at all times provide at least one link which will work, even if some should be down at the time. Unfortunately these formats (.pls, m3u, .afx etc...) don't work with ETS2, so finding a specific link can be a little difficult sometimes.

I think I tracked down the radio channels you want. Please try adding these lines instead of the ones you provided in the opening post:

stream_data[196]: "http://radio.canstream.co.uk:8004/live.mp3|Resonance FM"
stream_data[197]: "http://134.213.27.207:8000/stream|NTS Radio"
stream_data[198]: "http://typhoon.exequo.org:8000/rinseradio|Rinse FM"
stream_data[199]: "http://stream0.wfmu.org/freeform-128k|WFMU FM"

Here's a tip for general use, when trying to track down working radio stream links:

Let's say you have a radio station you want to listen, such as NTS, which leads you to a site like this:

http://ntslive.co.uk/

At the bottom you should see "Listen On: " followed by several links, but if you hover over them you'll see they are all in different playlist formats: " http://134.213.27.207:8000/listen.pls " etc...

What you can do with links like that, which really look like valid stream addresses, is stripping them down to the base URL. If you follow " http://134.213.27.207:8000 " with your browser, it should take you to a Icecast Streaming Media Server application status page with the stream provider's info. What we want to know is the Mount Point, which in this case is revealed to be "/stream". When we add that to the base URL, we should have a working address. Dressing the URL from this example into a nice ETS2 format, we get the line I provided in my earlier post:

stream_data[197]: "http://134.213.27.207:8000/stream|NTS Radio"

Should a streaming server contain more than one channel, the Icecast status page will contain separate info boxes for each. Check out the Digitally Imported channel list, as an example:

OOo. Thanks for the very informative posts Trehek! The links you provided work perfectly fine and - by using your detailed post - I should have no problem adding other radio stations in the future. Much appreciated!

I used this guide last night to get rid of every station that was in the scs supplied list and brought in a dozen and a half that I like from Shoutcsat, went smoothly following the directions...

Rummaging through the Shoutcast lists to find stations that I wanted took 90% of the time I spent.

^^^ That's just the URL to their station's website, as explained in the How TO guide you need a URL that when you paste it into a browser and hit enter plays music. Can you get a stream of that station's programming? That's the starting point.
Also, anytime you click "load from internet" ingame it just overwrites anything you've done with the SCS list...that's what it "loads", that choice should really be labeled "restore default station list"
