ETS2 for Mac any time soon?

I've been waiting quite a long time for this game to come out on Mac already. It can easily run on Crossover but that costs money and It's a program I don't really want. I would greatly appreciate it if this game can be made to run on Mac already because I'm getting tired of waiting.

Sorry to say, but why buy Mac if you want to play games? You pay more for less hardware and games need to be specialy rewritten to be playable on it, costs the developers extra money to doo.

Comments like that are not helpful. If he wanted a PC he'd have bought one.

Back on topic...

I read quite a while back now on the developer's site that they had the engine for this ported to OS X but haven't heard any news since. I need to go find their site again to look though.

You probably know this already but just in case, the previous ETS is available for OS X now and it's on Steam.

Here's hoping they get this Steamplay soon too.

Support got back to me within 24 hours with this reply:

"I wish we could gave a positive answer about ETS2 being released for Mac soon, but unfortunately, even though the same experienced engineer who previously managed to port ETS1 and Scania TDS to Mac has been working on it for a year, it's still not done. He is tearing his hair out (all that's left), but he is still not ready to give even us a rock solid estimate for when it's going to be done. ETS2 systems are much more complex than the older games were, requiring way more optimizations. We are not giving up, we are getting perhaps 5 e-mails a day from potential Mac customers urging us to hurry, so we know the demand is out there. Thanks again for still keeping your patience!

So they are still working on it. Patience is a virtue as they say. Meantime, the Scania Truck Simulator by SCS on the Mac App Store looks cool as does the older Bus Driver game. Just some suggestions to pass the time until this one gets done.

I'll definitely make sure to do that. And yes, If it was my choice of which computer I would want to buy I would definitely have windows by now.

In the meantime, you may try this for free: http://www.playonmac.com/en/. If the game runs on Crossover, it will most likely run on Playonmac too.

Comments like this are very unhelpful. Some people prefer Macs, and SCS promised ETS2 would be Mac compatible. Personally, I would rather have a Windows PC (for DirectX support), but my PC died and I'm on a Macbook that was given to me until I can afford to buy a new computer. Whether people are using Mac because they want to or because it's what they have, it's not for you to make excuses for a company to back out of it's commitments.

Sadly I don't think ETS2 will ever reach Mac. We might see American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 3 for Mac. The game will have been out for nearly two years on Oct. 12th and hasn't seen Mac support in that time, if it hasn't got it by now I don't think it ever will.

I wish they would look into that and I do hope they have it for ETS3 and ATS as it seems a lot of people are stuck in the same position. Sorry man. :(

Hello.

You can play the beta version of ETS 2 on your Mac, if you have the Steam version of the game. Here is how you do it:

-On your Mac, right-click on Euro Truck Simulator 2 in your Steam library and select Properties.

-Switch to the Betas tab and select the "osx_beta branch" and close the window.

-Install Euro Truck Simulator 2 from your library.

-Play!
