The main problem with getting higher top speeds is that the engines seem to be limited to a max of ~2300 RPM.
Modify the finaldrive ratio of the transmission. Giving a lower finaldrive ratio (number) will increase the max top speed. You may also need to adjust the ratios of the gears to make the truck drivable at lower speeds.
I used a 10000 hp engine with a modded gearbox and I got up to 200 mph. Then I needed to turn and realised that I couldn't as I was going so fast. So I decided to stop by raming every single car which was close to me. LOL :-D
That is the least realistic thing about the game as I have witnessed large trucks with heavy loads moving at over 100 KM/H on the interstate up steep hills.
Also the 2300 RPM thing is probably the problem... What kind of vehicle maxes out at 2300 RPM?
I'd say you're exaggerating - it's more like 30-40 km/h going uphill, but yeah. I'm guessing you're using the automatic gears like me, as it seems to me like it's a problem with its gear shifting. It only seems to look at the RPM of the engine, so when there's not enough torque when going uphill, it won't shift down properly to maintain speed. Instead it lets the truck slow down until RPM falls to the shift-down threshold. Then the same thing probably repeats itself through the next gears until a sufficiently low gear finally reaches enough torque.
Yeah, it's annoying as hell and I hope it gets fixed sometime.
Go into the options, under game play I believe or controls is anot option called "adaptive automatic transmission", enable that if you're using an Xbox or other controller, this means when you "floor" it, the truck will downshift.
If you're using a keyboard then your best bet is to just accelerate until you hit 30 kph and then use cruise control to adjust your speed. Set the increments to every 5kph/5mph and use +/- keys to modulate. You can even set a resume function so you can just get to 30 and hit that and have the truck accelerate back up to whatever you were doing. Great for when you get cut off by boy racers in pink and yellow trucks with no loads.
Yeah, the Scania V8 is quite powerful, haha.
the vovlo does have the highest horespower and torque figures, but the merc is solid, and if doesn't matter how fast you can go in a straight line, at least not in europe lol
