Keep getting fines for red light violation when the light is amber.
Approaching traffic lights within the speed limit, just as I am almost there they turn to amber, too late to brake safely so I continue, but then I get a red light violation fine.

Rather unrealistic really, nobody would actually get a fine for this, there's a reasonable lee-way for safe stopping distance especially for HGVs with a long trailer (which might still be crossing the white line when the light turns red).

I can't speak for Europe, I know in Florida in the US, the law has been something like 0.4s of the light going red, at least for the red light cameras.

With the yellow times in ETS being what they are though, I'd just assume it's right about to go red unless it turns yellow right as you pass it.

ETS2 is pretty touchy about light timing...best to just be ready to get on the brakes hard, as you have to be well into the intersection to avoid a ticket.

Yeah ETS2 is harsh in the light offense tickets. My experience, at least 50% of truck&trailer total length need to be over the line before red light hits else you be fined. You see amber... you better brake hard with all brakes to your disposal.

Another possibility in the game is to simply disable the traffic offenses. Of course, you still will stop for red light, follow speed limits and so on, but you may proceed on amber if you find that safe.

Personally, I think the game is too picky about red light. Lost count on how many times I was absolutely sure that the light was amber or even green when I passed the stop line and nevertheless got a fine...

When your truck isn't fully over the stop line when it turns red then you are getting a fine.

In UK any part of your vehicle crosses stop line with RED light showing = FINE

If you think they might go red, don't risk it, slow down before the lights.

The lights are never very long. If you're approaching and the light has been green for more time than 2 semis would take to pass, then expect that it's about to turn red and slow down and be ready to stop when it changes.

Some countries in real life require them to be on, even on perfect sunny weather. So better to keep them on.

Always drive with dipped (low beam) headlights on, it will never result in a fine any time of day or night.

Just because you can see perfectly doesn't mean you won't get fined. Otherwise people who are absolutely drunk would get away by saying "I can drive perfectly!". Because it isn't just about you seeing stuff but also others seeing you. And if you don't have your headlights on then others will have a harder time seeing you.
So keep your low beams on all the time and you won't get any fine for that.
