Preferred GPU
I am running an Intel Core i7 - 3.4 ghz, 64 Gb DDR3 RAM, on an ASUS Sabertooth-x79B MB.I also have 2 x SLI Gigabyte (NVIDEA drivers) GV-N780OC-3GD GTX 780 OC Edition GPU's. I was running 43 FPS and then Optimized the settings and the FPS increased to 60. Having read many comments here about the short-coming of NVIDEA GPU's and even quicker FPS's, can you experienced guys tell me what would be a better, high-end GPU (or GPU's to run in SLI) that would be more suitable to ETS2. Thank you in advance

Tom's hardware is one of the best resources around. If you're shopping for a card, definitely check out their Best GPUs for The Money, it has a recommendation for every price level. Also, their Graphics Card Hierarchy which compares all major GPUs since the Riva TNT era. Tom's is slightly biased toward NVIDIA, but if you just keep that in mind, it's a pretty good site.

I use 2 780s. I would recommend turning off AA, 300% and learn to play with grass turned off and reflections on low. Shadows are sick, leave those ultra. Too bad the mirrors dont show shadows...You can bump that up to 90-120 fps on a 144hz monitor. In cab drops around 15-20 fps.

yeah, agreed, they're a good site, i also used to love hardware firing squad as well, but it's been too long since i've checked them to give a totally solid recommendation.

I've been using an AMD Phenom II 6-core since 2010 and to be honest, it still works great. I don't know what my framerate is in ETS2, but it runs smoothly. GTA 5 runs well too as long as I don't have too many other programs running in the background.

Believe me... Intel has improved a lot since Pentium's era. I have Intel Core2Duo and I've overclocked it. It works perfect with a stock cooler. Anyway... it's kind of old now... so it's time to buy new PC... soon ;) (Friend of mine, which is a computer freak btw has told me that Intel's are now better than AMD's). But ..for the record.. my first PC had AMD Athlon 2200+ (15 yrs ago).

008Ivan, yeah AMD seems to be running in a distant 2nd place in both CPUs and GPUs. I love my Phenom II but I think AMD made a mistake focusing so much on APUs for its new chips. They're fast for some specialized applications, but don't have the horsepower for general purpose gaming.

hope AMD zen will improve its IPC gap with Intel get it narrowed to where Haswell level sits so Intel starts to sweat a little, APU good idea at lower end consumer market at 900p and 720p gaming resolution don't have money to buy graphics card. GPU it's mostly get what you pay for and always tough buying GPU always something better the next year.

quit being butthurt over bulldozer, you're giving him horrible advice, AMD has been and still is being utterly trounced for performance by Intel.

No worries. I definitely plan on buying Intel. I'm just putting it off because my Phenom II is still going strong.

that's totally fair and understandable, honestly i wish i hadn't bothered with an i7 5820k and went for the i7 5960k to be quite honest, the processor just can't be overclocked as well/easily with this one.

which isn't a big deal, but i can nearly overclock it to 4.5ghz, so close, it's like a tease, blue screens though despite passing stress tests.
