Possible glitch with MPH when driving truck with km/h odo?
Hi, Have only been playing for a bit so maybe I am missing something. I have started in continental europe and am just doing my first run across the channel. My truck's odometer is in km but the guide on my GPS shows the converted kms. It says speed limit is 96km/hr - I was doing 89km/hr and I just got a speed offence. Does the game not realise I was travelling at km/hr and not mph and that's why I received the fine?

Are you sure the GPS limit is set on trucks? I know there are a few stretches where its 96, but otherwise I never get a speeding ticket in the UK. Only times when that happens is when there's a sudden drop to 48 for no apparent reason and then it goes back up.

The speed in Britan is in MPH, just like Canada and the U.S.

Even so, the game still converts MPH to KPH for the GPS. Its why I see 48 in the cities, some 64's, and 96's on the roads in the UK.

90Km/h is 50 Mph.
50Km/h is 30 Mph.

Lone Wolf. It's KPH in Canada.

Only for railway operations. Otherwise, we use the international system as everybody else except those two we all know.

You're wrong on 90, but very close on 30.

90 KP/H is actually 55.923407 MP/H.
50 KP/H is 31.06856 MP/H. So that one is pretty close.

Fixed. Canada uses the metric system, and Americans use this confusion as an excuse to drive super fast in Canada. Our legal speed limits are higher however I think. Our highway speed limits are 100-120km/h. I think the Americans only go up to 65mph, which is only 105 km/h. Slowpokes.

Well, you're not entirely wrong. There are many sections of the interstates that are 65. Some sections are 70 MPH, and I've been in a few that were 75 MPH. I've heard some testing done for certain sections that the legal limit be 80 MPH in areas of very straight roads like we have here in Texas or other very flat and straight roads.

Hi All, Thanks for the replies. I realise speed limit is in MPH - the speed limit was 60MPH and the onboard GPS was telling me I was allowed to travel up to 97km/hr - at the time I was doing 89km/hr when I received the speed offence. Makes me think either the onboard GPS was incorrectly giving me the speed limit or game glitched incorrectly reading my 89km/hr as 89MPH and issuing me with a ticket. It was for 850 Euros.
Cheers.

There is no 850€ fines, it's 550€, unless you use a mod.

I've never received a speeding fine, so I don't know how this works in the game. Do you receive the fine instantly, I assume? Do you remember where you got the fine? Maybe you were in an area with T shaped entrances and exits from the highway, and in my limited experience with the game, these areas have much lower speed limits. So you could've passed a small area where the speed limit is reduced just for a few hundred meters, and if you don't pay attention you might overspeed there.

Although, I again assume that you get a speed ticket only when there are speed radars? Can it be that there are areas in the game with speed cameras on highways, on sectors with lower speed limits?

It would be interesting if you could remember where you were fined, and maybe drive again through that area and see again what happens.

Hi thanks for the replies.
It might have been 550 Euros I'm probably mistaken and don't know how to go back and check or if that's even possible.
Yes you receive the fine instantly. I believe you only get speed fines when there is a camera present. I couldn't say exactly where it was though it was somewhere between Felixstowe and London and it was on an open stretch of highway, with no nearby ramps etc. It was so painful copping such a large fine that I now don't let myself go over 80km/h within GB no matter what the GPS says!
Cheers.

miles as distance in this game is unusable, the conversion of distances isn't done properly and if you switch to miles you can clearly see the problem as other ai trucks go past at easily more than double your speed (80kph, in fact) despite you supposedly doing the speed limit.
