Thrustmaster 458 Italia and ETS2
Hi Everyone

I recently took the plunge and bought a Thrustmaster 458 Italia wheel to use with ETS2. After playing with the settings I cant quite get it right. I think I have the responsiveness and speed right, in terms of how fast the wheel turns in game.

My problem is, at the moment, I have to turn the wheel a fair bit before the in-game wheel moves. Then, if I stop halfway to full lock on my wheel, the in-game wheel does not stop and carries on to full lock. Basically, my wheel does not fully reflect on the in-game wheel.

Any thoughts/recomendations on settings?

Thanks guys!
Mark

This was my old steering wheel until I bought a G27, absolutely no regrets with that purchase. Regardless, have you set the steering sensitivity all the way to the right and the steering non-linearity all the way to the left in the control settings, along with the steering axis deadzone all the way to the left as well?

I can't remember if there was a profiler for the Italia 458 but if there is (which I think there might be..?) set the steering to 270 or 280 degrees. Rusty memory with this part, I may be confusing it with the set up process for the G27, if it's correct that should sync the physical wheel with the virtual.

Hi Dave

Thank you for your reply, managed to get the wheel set up now and responding perfectly.
A new random issue has appeared, my brake pedal does not seem to register in the setup. Accelarator pedal is fine, brake pedal, nothing at all!

Checked the wiring and to my eyes all looks ok.

So close yet so far!

If I'm thinking of the same thing, what you're experiencing may be the exact same issue I had with the 458 from time to time. If it is the exact same thing it's possible to get it to work. If you go to the settings and fiddle around with the acceleration and braking axis settings until the corresponding pedals work when you press the individual pedals.

For me with the G27 both settings work with them set as 'inverted' but I suspect that won't be the case with the 458 (long time since I used it). Try using 'inverted' for the acceleration axis and 'inverted + centered' for the braking axis, if that doesn't work (or they both register at the same time) keep trying different combinations with those options. When the issue I had happened that's what I would do until the brake axis registered with the brake pedal and the acceleration pedal registered with the acceleration axis when pressed.

Thanks for the reply again.
When im on the settings page, with the accelarator it detects that nice and easy. When I depress the pedal the orange line appears and goes back and forth with how hard I press it etc...

With the brake pedal nothing happens. What I mean is, when I press the brake pedal I cant get the game to detect it at all. So I cant play with the 'inverted' or inverted+centred settings at all.
At the moment on the brake axis it says Joy: missing. So I click on that, and it asks you to 'press button or move stick' etc...at that point I press my brake pedal but nothing happens/is detected.

See on the settings where it says Brake axis: (whatever it says) does it say joy break? If not click that box next to brake axis and then press the brake pedal. That should assign the brakes to the brake pedal of the 458. Is the brake axis deadzone set all the way to the left as well?

Sorted, thank you for the help.
My issue now is, my steering deadzone is all the way to the left but, I still have to turn the wheel a fair amount before it will register on the game wheel?

Is there a profiler that you can download for the 458 Italia steering wheel? I can't remember but I vaguely recall having to set the rotation degree for it between 270 to 280 degree because it doesn't have 900 degree rotation so I do believe there is one but I'm not entirely sure.

Forgive my ignorance, what is a profiler?

Hi Dave, I did indeed.
Thank you for all your help im now all sorted!

Alright man, enjoy.

Hello, I have found the solution! Go to your Keys & Buttons menu and Reset to default. Go to Controls and try to configure the wheel again :)
