Help setting up keyboard steering
I've been playing for a very long time ETS 2 and one of the things that makes me go crazy is steering with a keyboard (no, sorry, I can't afford a steering wheel :/ )

When I started playing I had a huge problem steering at high speeds since the keyboard keys act the same if you press them softer or harder, so I had to low the steering sensibility. That fixed steering at high speeds and now I can make very precise turns without tipping over.

The thing is that now, steering at low speeds; making sharp turns; reversing, are very slow maneuvres because the steering sensibility is low.

I need some help to set this up the right way, so I can make precise turns at high speeds and sharp turns at low speeds without having to go to settings each time I need to change the sensivity.

Thanks :steerme:

that's kinda the suffering you have to live with for not having a steering wheel. I use mouse steering and set my sensitivity on the lowest possible setting, it works perfect for highway driving but is a little trickier in the towns, you just have to live with driving slow on curvy roads.

If you have an XBOX 360 controller, the steering is a lot more precise both on highway and in towns.

I use the mouse, which works just fine for me.

for some people maybe. For me, I can't drive with a controller at all. The keyboard is much easier and more precise. But I have been driving with keyboards for 30+ years. I bought a 360 controller thinking it would be better, but no. I just can't get used to driving with it. You should be going slow in town when you are turning and should be going slow when reversing. so I just live with the tradeoff and go slow when turning or reversing

Funny you mention that. I can't even get XBox sticks to steer straight. What magic is this that everyone else thinks the modern joysticks are the ♥♥♥♥? I mean, they are the ♥♥♥♥, but when I say that I mean they're the ♥♥♥♥. You know. Garbage. Trash. Rubbish. Not worth wasting your money on.

Twenty years ago, I could buy a ten dollar joystick that could steer straight. Today? No such luck. They don't have them on the market anymore. It seems somebody, somewhere, decided to save about ten cents and make it so none of them steered straight anymore!

Even if you pay ten thousand dollars for a joystick these days, it still won't steer straight!

It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded if you ask me.

Give me a keyboard any day. I'd try a steering wheel, but I won't pay five hundred dollars for a part that probably will chronically act like the wheels are out of alignment.
