1.44 Cabin suspension stiffness changed?
It feels like something has changed with cabin suspension stiffness in the 1.44 version?
Every little course adjustment on straight road (keyboard) makes the cabin lean over a lot, makes me almost sea-sick :steamsad:
I have set all the Stability sliders to max but it does not improve..
Am I the only one with this issue?

I noticed the same issue in American truck sim back on the 1.43 update, but no one seemed to care much at the time. I have not had a chance to play ETS since the 1.44 update. Its so bad in ATS, that if you wiggle the wheel, its like truck wobble intensifies on its own until you force it to settle down.

Really? That is "good" to hear I am not alone with this remark. For me it is a big change and it is almost "unplayable" now, especially since driving with keyboard, you have to constantly keep adjusting the course back and forth even on a straight road. I have to pause playing until this is resolved I guess. Btw, in my previous job in the airline business we would call this "Longitudinal Instability" and would never accept to fly an aircraft coming out of service with this behaviour... not even in a simulator.

Yes Longitudinal Instability is a good description. In using a wheel and pedals, I have been able to reduce it a lot, by making suspension stiffer, but I saw you wrote that did not help with your keyboard controls. Perhaps experiment with other settings before giving up completely, or perhaps an xbox/playstation controller is an option to help with the smoothness of navigational adjustments.

No it is worse than before. I know there is a setting called "steering sensitivity" or something so maybe I'll try that first. X-box controller is not an option though.. I hate it! :steammocking: Returning to my past flying career, a "Yaw Damper" activation button would be nice to have in my Scania! *lol*

In 1.44, there is new feature called 'Horizontal Camera Locking'. In 'Gameplay' settings, look for 'Interior camera horizon locking factor'. Try to disable this by sliding all the way to left.

Yes they changed how suspentions work for worse. i was using mod called realistic truck psyhics to finnaly get the truck to behave like I wanted it, only for 1.44 to screw me up again.
I have countered this wiht putting "interior camera horizon locking factor" all the way to the right, so while the truck does tilt, the camera does not, making it far smoother to drive...atleast for me. Psyhical camera movement seems to be adjusting how far it goes front or back when you break or accelerate.

even at the stiffest setting its pretty soft

same here, it's insufferable. even with the aforementioned option turned to the left and stiffness completely to the right it feels like the truck is about to do a barrel roll from the slightest turn. geez

I have my truck and trailer stability set to default and my FFB as well, all of them are related, so a change in one can mess the others.

Have no issue at all both games

Well Gentlemen..
Now I am a bit confused here since we are talking of both "Longitudinal- and Lateral instability" at the same time.. Maybe my fault too who started this and included the problem with the truck constantly weering off from side to side on the road (Longitudinal instability), but that is another problem I guess..
The primary problem is "Lateral instability" and the tendency for the cabin to make a "Barrel roll" ,a nice slow roll in flying compared with a "Snap roll", but in a truck is a nightmare!
You give me advice to either slide it all the way to the left...or to the right!?
I am glad I am not your test pilot trying to go past the sound barrier in UK 1949, where the first try made the plane extremely nose-heavy,uncontrollable and it disintegrated in the air at Mach .98. The next guy trying thought that maybe if he reversed the controls at that point, giving dive rudder instead of climb in the same situation.. and it worked..Bang, Mach 1.0 !! :steammocking:
Sorry joking but I am sure you get my drift.. So now, without the risk of my Scania disintegrating at 80 km/h, I will now try BOTH of your recommended ways of solving this problem..Taking off now..
Thank's and 'Over and out'
p.s Will report back if I survive! :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:

Test pilot's debriefing:
Location: Enroute Tallin-Warzaw
Weather conditions: Heavy rain
Cruise speed: 50-80 km/h
Settings: "Physical camera movement factor = 0 (Left) and "Interior camera horizon locking factor = 0 (Left)
Results: Problem solved and I am very 'appy now! :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:
Comment: Maybe I could have unchecked the first button, "Physical camera movement" instead but I left it checked on (not sure if it disables something else).

So now, we can focus on the second problem, ”Longitudinal instability”.
Thank’s all for your support!

By the way, I might have solved the "Longitudinal instability" problem as well on this "test flight".. At least it feels like 90% stable and I guess it is as good as it can be with keyboard steering
In controls menu:
Steering sensitivity= 35%
Steering non-linearity =50% (not sure about this one's role though)

P.s Now, after driving a few more hours, I would say steering stability is 100% !! As good as it can be without beeing unrealistic, I think

The truck moves the same at either settings, just at the left most settings your camera follows the truck cabin giving illusion of being more "stable" untill you look at the road, while the rightmost the camera is stuck in place while the cabin moves on its own. My prefered settings is lil under the middle so neither movement to ground or truck are extreme. But as long as you found your prefered settings thats good, thats why they are there.

Ok, thank's, I understand but think I found my perfect settings now for the cabin and also for the steering stability which I would say now, with more test driving, is at 100% too  Maybe later I can tweak that cabin movement a bit more towards "realistic" without making me 'sea-sick' but for now I am very happy and feel it is even better than in v.1.43! :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:

As a trucker in real life, I wouldn't say they've nailed it with the new Horizontal Camera Locking but they are defo heading in the right direction! It takes getting used to when playing with Keyboard but with a wheel & pedals (plus shifter if you have it) it's as close to driving a real truck as I've ever seen on a game. Now if I could find an air seat and hook that up, I'd be a very happy man.
I'd say give them a little time to go through all the reactions / comments and get to tweeking it a bit before you quit playing.
