What stock scania model should I buy first?
I am planning to give my old DAF 2021 to my other drivers. So I want to buy another truck and I really want a Scania because it seems like a better brand. What base model should I buy, should I buy a base model with a 6x2 or 4x2 chassis? I am going to eventually upgrade the truck I buy of course

Scania and Volvo are the best trucks in my book.
If you have the money and the skills, you can get a 6X4 or bigger.
Sorry. You have to level up to get different chassie's.

Any tips? The cheapest Scania 6x4 is over 200k. Im using a 2x money mod and it is still taking a long time to get to 200k

Test the different models in quick jobs and decide from there.

What do you actually haul? Over the road a 4x2 chassis is okay. You need 6x4 basically just for traction, i.e. the heaviest special transport loads, offroad to construction sites, quarries, etc.

6x2 designs are plain decoration in the game. In reality they are for either reducing axle load with heavier than normal but not too heavy special transport loads, like excavators or bulldozers, which would push you slightly beyond the technical limit of 44 t GVW.
Or if local legislation demands them. While it is possible to register a 4x2 for 44 t GVW in the UK, it is much cheaper taxwise to either restrict it to 38 t GVW or if you need the additional payload get a 6x2 design.

More axles means more stability, a 6x2 Taglift give you a much sharper turning radius when going around empty or with a light load (sometimes even with a heavy B-Double load, just beware when you start off), a 6x2 Midlift is almost always provided with a second steerable axle so again get stability and a bit more sharper turning radius together. And every time you can stay with an axle lifted you are reducing your costs a bit.

Mirko, you have a strange idea of "plain decoration" : /

Driving 6x2/4 myself in game (company located in the UK, staying realistic) and 4x2 in the other profile (German one, real home country) The usually shorter 4x2 turn better (especially DAF with their really long 3 axle chassis) or about equal (Scania, Iveco) than the longer frame 6x2/4. The middle axle does not help for better steering, it just turns to avoid rubbing. The turning circle is given by the distance between front and fixed axle. So a 6x2*4 (steering taglift) would indeed turn better, because usually the distance between the front and fixed axle is even a bit shorter than on a 4x2.

Stability seems not to matter in this game to a point where you notice it from the axles. Driving for me feels about the same. Slider not at the left end but pretty far over, I'd estimate somewhere between the 5 and 10% marks if there were any. If I should crash it is not due to driving stability / staying in lane but usually to tipping over due to high corner speed.

So you obviously have a strange idea of what happens in the game - or a physics mod. :steamhappy:

No physic mods here. And I'm more than happy with my 6x2 Taglift.

Will check turning radius of a 6x2/4 again then, but the case you brought forth is one where having more axles surely helps to stay on the road. In the same conditions where a 4x2 flips over, another chassis may still pass without to reduce speed as much as it would be needed for the 4x2. And yes, I like to speed : D

Edit: made a check (Volvo's 6x2/4 Midlift) and you are right, turning radius doesn't change if middle axle is up or down, I have been cheating myself for years now : /

Edit 2: went to check all Volvo FH (new) chassis and took some screenshots. The result is interesting, at least for me. I hope I named them correctly anyway ^^'

Here where truck ended while driving at about 4 Km/h :

There is no ending point for 6x2 Taglift (up) as it had never hit the garage's fence.

From what I see the 6x2/4, 6x2/4 Midlift (both), 8x4/4 Midlift (both) shown the larger turning radius.
It goes already better for the 4x2 chassis.
Then 6x2, 6x4, 6x2 Taglift (down) are even more better.
And then the 6x2 Taglift (up) that ranks first with the smaller turning radius.

It looks like that the effective wheelbase in the third group is in between 2nd and 3rd axle, allowing for much sharper turns than others. Even in the first group, the 3rd (powered) axle of 6x2/4 and 6x2/4 Midlift falls exactly in the middle of 3rd and 4th axle of the 8x4/4 Midlift chassis, and all of them hit the fence in the same spot.

The same should apply to any brand, more or less, of course turning radius is just one of the aspects to weight before to decide for which one to go. Hopefully all this off topic may helps OP even a bit, cheers ; )

Edit 3: ops ^^' Looks Steam doesn't load more than 10 screenshots at once : / Moved ending points above starting points.

Okay, 6x2 taglift down and 6x2 + 6x4 fixed rear axle are a tricky ones. Actually there the fixed point for the rear axles is at the middle point between the two rear axles and on such a tight turn basically both axles will rub. Did not consider this really special case. So it turns good but would paint rubber circles on the road.

Thank you for the effort of testing them.

Shop around, there is great trucks besides what 90% of the community drives. Renault T, MAN TGX euro6, DAF XF to name a few. You dont need 700+ bhp to pull a box trailer.
