Still no hands on the steering wheel. Duh.
Bought it when it came out and pointed it out then. Game Mod/Dev threw a fit and told me it means nothing to have hands on the steering wheel. TELL THAT TO ASSETO CORSA AND Project CARS and a ton of others.

I hardly play it because I dont like having no hands on the steering wheel and Mod/Dev ignorance of the customer on the issue, especially when games had "hands-on" fifteen years ago.

Its like its a great game/sim, but the devs cannot be bothered with that single important aspect.

Only complaint really.

Is it really such a difficult thing to do; or is it an attitude thing?

You could always buy a steering wheel controller. Then it would really be hands on. I've also seen that if you drive in 3rd person, the animated driver has... well, hands on the wheel. But when you think about it, visual hands in your face will only block the view depending on where you have your seat adjusted to.

Hands on the wheel does not matter. It is still an excellent game. If you can't enjoy playing it because of this then this is not the game for you. Go play those oher drivign games.

Your comment...

It is an attitude thing.

For the illiterate....

"Its like its a great game/sim, but the devs cannot be bothered with that single important aspect."

Pertinent word is `Important`.

Like why bother with REALISTIC paint jobs.... if your driver has no hands?

Hmm. Perhaps it would be more pertinent to do a search for discussions involving this very addition to the game.
The only time I've ever seen it (in ETS2 that is) is in a Kenworth mod and on the website where that mod could be obtained had quite a few comments and most of them were about removing the hands on the wheel.

You are not the center of the world and just because it is import to you dont mean its important in general.

Its a design choice and some may care about it but others dont.

You cant compare this game with some racing simulators.

Those two may have hands on the wheel (one more example dirt rally), but the steering wheel in Racing Simulations usually is limited to 180° of movement (as in real life Races) so that the hands can be keept at the same position on the wheel, without the need to let them cross over itself like it would be the case in ETS2, other "Real World" Simulators etc. (as the wheel turns there 900°).

So it would be a lot more difficult to create such an Animation here which would may not look as good as it could as it is harder to animate crossing arms correctly (like not clip them trough each other) as non crossing arms.

So if you look at it that way, it is not really that important to include.

As a counter-argument I could say "No, it's not important". Because preference. I always turn off the driver/hands in all sims and even the wheel in some, because I have my own hands on a wheel in front of the monitor.

No, you seem to be one of those people who think "throw a tantrum if the developer doesn't cater to your niche demands".

In racing games you dont turn the wheel very much more than 180 degrees. If you watch in car footage of F1 for instance how often do they cross hands?
When manouvring trucks, esp when dropping off/collecting in tight spots, how many turns you put on wheel? For me its the maximum amount of lock which is 350 deg of turn (G25), which if shown graphically would mean the drivers hands passing thru each other as, I imagine, and I am not a graphic animation artist by any means, the difficulty shuffling the wheel through hands, or as in r/l, using just one hand when manouevring.
As for the AC, RRE3, Rallydirt, which I have, I dont have the hands animation on. Its a personal preference thing.
i dont care about the hands either...never really bothered me...and as others pointed out, they might even be an unnecessary disturbance at times, so ... no need for hands really :)

This thought did cross my mind at one point in the past. But then it hit me, I use a G27 with H shifter etc. if SCS had put hands into the game it would most likely never be in the positions that I have my real hands in real life on the steering wheel and such. So, if that was the case it would be, god I hate using this word.., immersion breaking for me and would eventually put me off the game at some point most likely.

By the time I'm in the game, I have it all set up the mimic almost identically what the seat height etc. would be for me so heh.. honestly although it's not true it gets perceived in my brain as 'correct' if you get what I mean to the point where hands in game never crosses my mind.

Not to mention the degrees of rotation for a truck is A LOT more than a racing car, so that's something that would need to be accounted for in order to make it work for ETS2 which is why, in my opinion, comparing ETS2 to a racing game is a bit eh..
Besides, it wouldn't be as simple as just designing a pair of hands and sticking them on to the wheel. They'd need different skin tones, different sizes, male and female hands. And how long before people started demanding more customisation options? Nail length, nail polish, rings. It could go on and on.
