Please play the game in vanilla for some time. That will tell you what you want. Mods are a huge responsibility and this game gets updated pretty much on a regular basis making mods outdated.
And nothing else! Discussion closed! Question answered! Over and out!
;)
Jazzycat.. yes, I used them in the past, but no longer. They were good.
But the variety of cars and trucks in the base game is good nowadays.
If you just bought the game... play vanilla first!
If someday you feel the need to try out some mods, keep your vanilla profile and start a new profile with the mods.
Just browse a bit through this discussion here and you will know what I mean. There are tons of people coming here with crashes and in 99.9% (estimated) it's a mod issue.
Not saying mods are all bad, I play with some as well ( the plushies!!! :) ) but I try to keep the number low and throw out stuff that I don't use or really need often.
If you are looking for an awesome map mod (on a seperate profile of course) ProMods is the one! It's great!
Happy truckin' !
Won't play without it, lol.
You do need all DLC's though.

Also, for more realism, AI traffic by Jazzycat, plus truck & painted trucktraffic by same author.
There are even more AI packs available.
To me, all those AI traffic packs are essential, bring so much realism to the game.
