Btw. you should use Steam Input only for Steam Controllers or when a game has no controller support.
I'm using stock settings (always have) and set up everything from scratch when the controller and in-game mapping update got released.
There is no old config or mapping profile that could interfere.
Also, why should i not use Steam Input? Steam Controllers are also just XInput divices (a.e. XBOX controllers). It also was the backbone for controller mapping for ETS2 for the longest time. And without it, i wouldn't have been able to invert stick y-axis' to solve at least one of the issues present.
There is little point in necroing a thread about older issues and hijacking it.
But you do you.
What on earth is an xbone controller lmao
The F-ed up controls IS a real problem, no amount of hostility will put it under the rug, it only irritates people even more....But then, that might be the desired outcome, people nowadays seem to find pleasure in aggravating others
Steam input is absolutely not the problem, don't shift the problem as I use Steam input in many games and they're still working perfectly fine. I can play even Star Trek online with ONLY a controller using SI, and if you play that game you'd know that it is a nightmare and doesn't really have control support
So no, it's not Steam input's fault
The culprit was driving school. I went into driving school and reset all controls again (Reload official default Steam Input profile, setup in-game controller), went to main menu, loaded up my career and did the whole shabang there as well and it works.
Driving school changes a few settings for its specific challenges, and something about that seems to mess up the general config.
I have no idea of setting things up twice in that fashion is actually a solution or a fluke, all i know is that it worked,
I could reset my bindings and mapping profiles as much as i wanted and nothing worked, i did it once in driving school and once in regulat play and it works.
I didn't really understand the steps here, can you explain simpler?
I'm having the problem that my old config just gets resetted to default every time I go ingame. The dev wants us to just roll with it and edit our configs from scratch but it would take me literal hours to copy what I had.
