Is it just me, or are Iberian cities a major FPS hog?

I can get 180fps in any city on the map, including all the other DLCs. Also, with or without ProMods. But the moment I enter the Iberian Peninsula, my FPS goes to the gutter. 50-60fps max. Only time it comes up is out on the open road.

First of all why you want 180 fps?? have you got a 240hz monitor??

In other hand, iberian cities are more intrincated, more detailed and the distance between cities are less than in other parts of the map. This do that the fps count go down in comparation with other parts of the map. There are a lot of triple AAA games that have different fps count depending of the zone where you are, welcome to video games world.

In my opinion 60 fps are more than enough to play this game, its not a shooter where you need to see smoothly for better accuracy. Today films are recorded at 30 fps and nobody cry about it. Sorry for this, but feel lucky to have a good computer, stop complain and enjoy the game. There are people who cant get more than 25 fps in whole map and they are enjoinning the game.

@LuisHG, well I have a really old system that's limited to older cards. Before I went SLI I had to tweak a lot of stuff to get it working right. But now I have another problem I get major stutter with the memory that I have in it right now. So in order to compensate for the stutter I tweaked it to go all the way up to 180fps. This compensates for the stutter. But that's all besides the point that's getting off topic. The reason why I have my system tuned to 180 FPS is superfluous to the original post. Let's call it testing purposes. And by the way I've been involved in the gaming world since the '80s so I'm not new to it. There's no need to mock me. I was simply asking if everyone else was experiencing the same thing. And I was in no way complaining I was simply asking a question.

Glad I'm not the only one noticing this. I run the game at 75 fps and it's fine until I get into the cities at night. Not sure why night is worse. More shadows? I'd think there'd be more shadows when the sun is out. I'm still trying to play around with settings but 95% of the time it runs fine so not too big a deal, though it does make me wonder what the game will be running like 6+ more years down the line if each new region is going to be increasingly more demanding.

I don't mind the FPS being lower on Iberia cause I still am around 30 fps

but I am having texture loading problems even with a profile without mods loaded

So what is the solution to that? There is shadow quality and shadow texture size (I think it's the name). I'm not sure what texture size does. Changing it to low seems to do nothing, either visually or for performance.

But he could left it at that, instead of going further, and assuming I was whining. Which I wasn't. It's just a discussion starter, nothing more. That's what this forum is all about, isn't it?

@Catratio, I personally have shadows set to low, because of my specs. But my fps problems happen day or night, so I don't think it's that. I do believe it's more content and detail that is the issue.

Knock your mirrors back in distance and rendering and your FPS will massively increase. Mirrors are a major performance hog as they are rendering the game world multiple times from various viewpoints. In area like Iberia this will reduce frame rates considerably as the system is now getting taxed by rendering the games higher definition scenery multiple times.

Personally I always remove front and side mirrors from trucks to keep the mirrors to only 4 at max.

@AoD_lexandro, actually I did do that. That's one of the reasons for the 180fps.

Besides I forgot to mention. One other reason I turned all my settings back down even after going SLi with three (yes three) GTX 560Ti's is that I can turn my scaling up now to help with the aliasing. Which was very annoying before that I could not read traffic signs at speed until I was already passing them.

Nothing in their post insinuated you were "whining". Sounds like you're projecting your own insecurities after being questioned. All they were saying was even at 50-60 FPS it plays great so they didn't understand why you cared about 180 FPS (and I agree, it's kinda silly on its face and worth asking, "Why?" Even with two question marks lol). Nothing wrong with their post, simple question that might've saved you some time and effort, if there was no real reason

Or, you could have just made the simple counter-point, that being curious about why it drops frames in those cities is no different than wondering why you wanted 180. Quit taking things as attacks that aren't.

I never got angry. I used the word hate, as in, it can get kind of annoying, but tolerable. I was pointing out that a lot of ppl stray off topic. So maybe I shouldn't have "pointed" at Millennials. Totally agree with edesignspl, he could see my point of view. It wasnt an attack, just curiosity.

I gave the response in the second paragraph after the two curiosity questions. Maybe i forget to talk about lights and shadows, iberia was a dlc designed with the new light system in mind and this make the cities has more detailed in shadows and lights, this do than fps count go down in comparation with other dlcs witth more than a year before the ligth system... Everybody have fps drops on iberian, and if you take some time to search in forum you can see it. About this, only we can wait to scs to optimice it.

Sorry if i offended you, only it was my opinion and curiosity about my point of view. Let's stop making a mountain out of a grain of sand and enjoy the game. GAS GAS!!

I did say I agreed with you about the Iberian detail. I just didn't take kindly to the comments "crying" and "stop complaining" when I wasn't. You can understand that perspective, right?

None of my posts over the past decade have ever been complaints. I like to discuss possible problems and see what others think, because I am a problem solver. It's in my career and my personality. But I was in no way complaining about anything.

I still don't understand why edesignspl stepped in like he did. Almost as if he was trying to be the man that breaks up the fight that wasn't nearly as bad as he made it out to be. It was completely unnecessary considering what we tossed at each other was pretty short in comparison. I'm 51 years old and have had several careers over the years, From the military, law enforcement, trucking, I/T, even working with zoo animals. I'm too old for this drama rubbish brought on by "forum trolls" that weren't even initially involved in the first place.

It's kinda like the analogy of the 2 guys at the bar. One guy is minding his own business, and the other is talking smack loud enough for everyone to hear. Who would you take seriously?

I understand your perspective, it is what happen with write conversation, you cant see my face, but always i write with a good friendly smile on my face... Sorry for the misunderstanding, it wasnt my intention.

About the issue, what we speak, everybody have more or less fps drops, but everybody have some, like i said, we only can wait to scs to optimize it. i dont think that now exist a solution. Play and enjoy!

p.d. I am not a millennial, I had my first pc in 1987, amstrad and Commodore genneration ;)
