Missing or corrupted profiles [FIXED]
We received confirmation from Valve that the Steam client now includes fix for this Steam Cloud issue so new corruptions should not happen regardless of the game beta branch you are using and you can switch profiles back to the cloud mode if you switched them to the local mode as a workaround.

If you still have some older corrupted profiles or saves, for example in a backup, you can fix them by either loading them in 1.41+ version of the game or using the fixing tool which can be downloaded from:

For ETS2:
http://download.eurotrucksimulator2.com/steam_cloud_profile_fixer_ets2.zip

For ATS:
http://download.eurotrucksimulator2.com/steam_cloud_profile_fixer_ats.zip

  1. Unzip the content to any directory (e.g. new directory on the desktop)
  2. Ensure that Steam client is running logged in to the Steam account you want to fix
  3. Ensure that the game is not running
  4. Run the steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe. It will attempt to fix all corrupted sii files in both the game local files and ATS Steam cloud. It will generate a steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log which you can inspect to see which files were fixed.
  5. Delete unzipped files (steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe, steam_api.dll, steam_appid.txt) and steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log when you are done.
  6. Note that fixing the profile will make it available in the game UI. If you created another profile in the meantime, you might need to select the fixed profile from the dropdown on the Launchpad screen or using the Manage Profiles screen

Older version of the tool which requires manual selection of folder to fix can be downloaded from

http://download.eurotrucksimulator2.com/steam_cloud_profile_fixer.zip

  1. Unzip the content to directory which contains directories with the corrupted files:
    • For local copy of files, for example if you want to fix profile backup files or if you already revived the profile using backup copy of profile.sii file and you want to fix some save, unzip it to
      <Documents>\American Truck Simulator\
      .
    • For Steam cloud copy of files unzip it to
      <steam_install_dir>\userdata\<userid>\227300\
      for ETS2 or
      <steam_install_dir>\userdata\<userid>\270880\
      for ATS
  2. While the tool will only modify corrupted .sii files, it is still a good idea to create a backup copy of those directories if something goes wrong.
  3. Run the steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe. It will attempt to fix all corrupted sii files in that directory and its subdirectories. It will generate a steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log which you can inspect to see which files were fixed.
  4. Delete both steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe and steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log when you are done.

Ok I'm lost, I dont know if I'm doing it right but Ive been trying this actually. I just cant find the userdata\<userid>\270880\. I have checked every single folder regarding this and I just dont see it. Im navigating through the My Documents....Nothing there. Im going throught Program files x86, nothing with userdata I dont see. I'm about to give up and just wait for this issue to be corrected. This is for ATS.

Same here…..I notice that link references Euto truck simulator, nothing for American truck simulator. I had 3 saves, my original save for offline mode, one for the convoy beta and another original save file for offline mode but dated further back to the end of last year…….don’t see how all 3 files became incompatible.

It's just a huge bug. Sucks because I started playing again. Literally just purchased a steering wheel, pedals and shifter. Now I can't play and gotta wait for this to be fixed. I gave up trying to correct it. I'm a noob somewhat with these codes. I hope they work weekends for this. I did create a new profile and the mods do not work.

Here is a workaround I found, if your profile is corrupted.
It is actually not neccessary to make backups, as ETS2 makes a backup of your profile everytime there is a game update.

If you have your profiles saved on Steam-Cloud:
1. Go to your affected profile, where your latest backup is:
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\steam_profiles(1.40.5.0s).bak
2. Open your affected profile
3. Copy profile.sii and profile.bak.sii
4. Now open C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your Steam-id3]\227300\remote\profiles
and open your affected profile e.g. 4A6170616E.
5. Paste your copied files here and now your profiles should work again. The only thing you will lose is the changes you made to your settings since the last game update.

If you have local saves:
1. Go to your affected profile, where your latest backup is:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\steam_profiles(1.40.5.0s).bak
2. Open your affected profile
3. Copy profile.sii and profile.bak.sii
4. Now go back to your documents where your profiles are:
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2
5. Open profiles
6. Paste your copied files here and now your profiles should work again. Saves are not corrupted, the only thing you will lose is the changes you made to your settings since the last game update.

try this, I did this troubleshooting and it fixed my main profile that's linked to the cloud.

For ATS if you have steam installed on C: drive "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\12345678\270880"
NOTE the "12345678" number is fictional yours will be different

For ETS2 default steam install "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\12345678\227300"

If steam is not on C: drive then you need to go to where you installed it.

Ok my profile disappeared from ETS2 today. I've tried the fixer tool noted above, and also tried using the approach mentioned by 'Frate' to copy profile.sii and profile.bak.sii into the Profile folder. Both ways unfortunately haven't worked for me. This is so frustrating as (i'm sure all will appreciate) it's taken me ages to build up revenue and expand my fleet and drive line-up. Really really really enjoy this game, but not sure how much enthusiasm I would have to start all over again.

Will Steam, Valve or the developer be addressing this anytime soon? Absolutely gutted about this....

I will check into this when I get home from work and keep this thread updated. Thank you. Going back n forth with folders and files it's making me lost.

I hear ya my friend. I just recently purchased a steering wheel, pedals and a shifter. Bad timing for this, If this does not get fixed I am not starting over I'm sending all my product back and I'm deleting my Steam account. That's just how I feel.
