I have a couple of questions about the new 152 update ....
Is nice to have the ability to restore a truck or a trailer , but looks odd that the cost of a new one is a lot lower than to restore the older ones, is better to scrap them ,so restoration is pointless.
Also ,i got this mod about sleeping hrs, it works ok, but when i went in the mod directory i could not find it !!! Does someone knows where this mod is stored?

If the mod is from the workshop you will find it in your steam library
... \SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\227300
not the mod folder in your ETS2 data directory.

When you open the mod in the workshop and click the "share" button you will see an "ID=..." at the end of the link. This ID corresponds with the subdirectories in the above mentioned folder.

Yes, restoring a truck is much more expensive than a new one. I think this is somehow the same IRL. Much more manual work. Remove the old part, install the new, etc....

This is much like got a new PC. Personal satisfaction and achievement between stock build and custom build is completely different. Custom build may eventually beyond the starting budget but at last will meet all your needs.

Thanks, about the restore option , i feel is a failure of the developer.

Maybe it needs some balancing but I think it is the way it should be.

Just imagine buying a truck with 500.000 km on the clock.
How much will it cost to make it similar to a brand new one?

Like building a new truck from the scratch in a workshop not in a factory, where everything is made for building new trucks. This includes the building process itself (robots, ... ) as well as the logistics for the parts, etc. etc.

Plus , second hand trucks are too expensive to buy. For ex a sec Man cost around 94000 and the same new cost 115000..... Someone must be drunk to use this feature !!!

The failure is yours in understanding how real life works. Restoring a vehicle to a good state is much more expensive than buying a new one.

It makes a lot of sense for the following reasons:
• Restoration could not make use of efficiencies and economies of scale in mass production, especially if the restored truck uses a personalized, custom, and/or non-factory part.
• On older trucks, some parts may no longer be in production anymore, requiring customized fabrication.
• Restored trucks need to be dissembled, then reassembled. New trucks only need to be assembled.
• It is easier to paint a body when nothing else is installed yet. An already made truck needs to have some of its parts removed and/or wrapped before repainting.
• New parts are more predictable to fabricate to spec, being in controlled environment. Restoring a part to spec is more tricky due to many external variables that affects the part differently.

My friend, actually my job is a mechanic and i work in a factory that manufactures vehicles. Unless you are restoring an antique , to repair is most times chipper or if not then the vehicle is a wright of and goes for scrap.

How? It's the same in real life. Restoration cannot be done on a production line in a factory, it has to be done largely by hand. Hence it costs more.

If is more expensive than the value of the vehicle, the vehicle goes for scrap.

... and that's exactly how it works in the game. At some point restoring and old truck makes no sense any more, so just sell it and buy a new one.

Also i found something odd, if you repair your truck directly from the new repair window (the expensive one) it will cost more that upgrading the truck on individual parts !!!! For ex, to change tires, is cheaper to upgrade the truck with a new set that restore !!!! Someone has made a mess in the restoring option.

That is only because you get a part-exchange value for the items you are replacing.

If you don't like how the restoration unit works, just don't use it instead of trolling about it on here.

Like others have answered - in real life taking a truck or a car apart in all of it’s pieces and restoring is very time consuming and highly expensive. But - if your vehicle has a special meaning to you it might be worth it - if you have the money. In the virtual trucking world the idea is the same. If you want to hold on to your original first truck then restoring is the way to go. If you don’t care buy a new one.
