It's saving separate because it is separate. ;) Driving Academy is a "module", just as the regular driving career is. And, like that normal career, progress is based on the profile. Different profile, different progress.
And if it is a per Profile basis then that mode should let one choose in advance which profile you want to use, as it is not stated anywhere that settings & stuff are taken from whatever profile you used for the main game.
What do people do which just started the game and first look into the driving academy?
As you can not change settings there and no prior profiles exist.........
Your progress in Driving Academy is profile specific, just like your progress in the regular game is profile specific. Once you've selected a profile to use, you then have the option of which module to play: Continue Career (regular game) and Driving Academy.
We just never had any other option before, but game progress was always this way.
Maybe they put it there for future plans like.....replacing the current ingame tutorial.
Would be the only thing which would make sense why the save location & configs are used from existing profiles without further notice
profiles>xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>academy, I used only 1 profile in academy and i got several, Only in one profile files i have this academy_book_states.sii file in academy folder
