What's with the WoT My Page 'Favorite Picture' counter? It's way out of step with the actual votes...

This has been annoying me for a while.

The 'Favorites' on WoT is mucked up a little bit because we have to upvote our own images or lose track of them, as well as our faves from other drivers, since there's no other way of just filtering out our own images from the millions out there.

However, across ETS2 and ATS I've (so far) had 76 additional 'favorite' upvotes from other drivers. The '50 or more' achievement counter says only 24 count. It's not a huge number, but I appreciate every one!

I've emailed SCS and they say that it's down to some of those being from user accounts that have since been deleted, and that the achievement total only counts those from current 'live' accounts, which is why it sits there for 10 or so extras before the counter nudges up one.

Anyone else only got a 1/3 'stick' rate?

If you tallk about the "Trucker Album" achievment, it sais "faved by 50 people".
So you need 50 different people give you one or more favs.
The total amount of favs does not count.
I can fav all your pictures and it will increase only by one.

That's how it has been working for me so far and how I understand that it works.

Now that makes sense! However, this is what SCS replied...

"The counts for achievements on World of Trucks website are only incremented if the current number of favorites increases. If some accounts that have favorited your messages have been deleted, the counter will not go up until you get enough favorites to cover for the loss and one more on top of that."

So you can see my confusion - it reads like it's the number of favs, not the number of unique users.

Yes, that reads a bit different and is focused on deleted account that do not count any more. Dunno if that happens that often. I don't think so ... *shurg*

What happens if someone removes the favorite but still is a valid account? I have been marking favorites and removing, it seemed to me like the count went up for everyone but now I wonder if it just means they need another one to get it to increase again.

Not sure, atogmvncher, it might not affect the Trucker Album achievement, but it's hard to say - there's no way of tracking where the progress comes from to verify what maxcry says.

The WoT site still banner flags as an 'alpha' site, which usually means it's an early work in progress.

I just gave you a fav (not just for testing, I really like it) and your counter didn't increase. Still 25.
So it really seems like you have some "dead" counts in there. Or maybe it just takes some time to update.

I take a look at the counter every here and then and so far it seems like it is working as intended at my profile. But of course it is hard to say for shure as there is no log file or more detailed info about it.

I guess we got our answer, removing a favorite doesn't decrease the count but does require an extra one to move the count, I was trying to keep my favorite list clean so I could keep track of my own pictures, but I will have to stop doing that :)

Thx maxcry - yeah, it hasn't moved up. I dropped a couple of favs on your pics - nice gallery BTW, love the older rigs! I've liked a lot of your previous ones, so maybe I've already fav'ed some? Hang on...

Back - just checked my favs list - no, sorry, hadn't fav'ed yours up to today! Corrected that now.

And, as I was checking, the counter on my total had rolled up to 26 - maybe there's also a bit of lag in the system there!

Good spotting atog. That must be what the SCS reply was referring to as well - best keep those favs there! That might be what's been happening with my list, since I can't quite believe there's been a mass exodus of users - the accounts can't be 'forgotten' and dormant, but actually have to be deleted!

This 50 different people favorites thing seems like such an impossible task, or at the very least a very long journey :)

Yes, it takes some time to get the first 50. Took me a couple of month and I kept posting new images every here and than.
An EP would prolly help a lot, but so far I had none.
Mine went up by one now on my way to the 2nd 50. Thanks, glad you like them.

Summary:
- 50 different people/active accounts need to add favs for the "Trucker Album" achievement.
- A million favs from the same user is still just counted as one on the "Trucker Album" achievement.
- Folk need to keep their fav'ed pics listed as removing fav seems to drop totals.
- Patience, grasshopper - Rome wasn't built in a day!
