Question if you miss a turn or turn the wrong way?
As the tittle asks.

Very few times it had happened to me and it’s ugly, what you do?

In my case PANIC, the gps doesn’t show you alternatives, in the long roads there doesn’t seem to be “returns” in kilometers.

And is very complex to turn around with a big trailer on your back, if I try I end with a lot of damage and several accidents.

Other choice is call to rescue, but the workshop can be far and if your delivery is premium… besides i consider that CHEATING i would prefer an option returning to the road on my own.

You can set up your game commands so you get free cam by pressing 0, then go to any location press F9 and your truck will spawn there, you can use this method to spawn yourself back on the road.

Wouldn't that be cheating as well?

The GPS will show you alternative route eventually if you continue driving on the wrong road for some distance. However you can speed it up if you open the map and set a waypoint on the road you're on.

If you miss a turn, keep going until there's no traffic and make an illegal u-turn (don't do this irl. Don't, seriously. I don't want to be at fault for your getting a ticket because of my advice), or continue (on highways only) until you come across an opening in the median where you can cross over, or if you see an exit that will let you come out on the other side without much hassle, then go back and make your turn. That's what I do.

Do NOT make any illegal u-turns IRL. Please.

Yes like I told panic, so I should wait until the GPS told me but I panic before I have patient. The next time it happens (hope not soon) I will try to keep going on, I think even the mechanics take several hours so call for assistance may be worse.

Yes I tried that but like I told this is not GTA (there is easier :P ) even the grass seem to hurt the cargo and trailer and even if there doesn’t seem to be traffic eventually a dumb car arrives (not caring about my predicament causing a disaster).

I don’t care >:( if I am tired and hurry to come to my house to play ETS2….
In any case thank you for your replies.

Just keep going, trust me because just like if you do the same thing in real life, your sat-nav will find an alternative route - the game just doesn't tell you it's "Recalibrating" over & over again like a real one does or try what "Norbiq" suggested as that works too....

It doesn't instantly give you an alternative route because frankly there probably isn't one close by. You may have to drive for some time just to hit any exit. If you really look at your map, you'll see there isn't an abundance of roads. It's just the nature of the map and the range of the GPS.

I start looking for a place to do an illegal U turn. It doesn't always pan out though. I may have to drive 50 km just hit the next road.

If you've just barely missed it you can back up on the freeway. Not IRL ;-)
Or check your autosaves, might be one recent enough to be worthwhile taking.

I spent a good 10 minutes or more the other day backing up under a bridge with lots of traffic behind me, eventually I let them past and was able to back up and take the turn that I had missed! So many barriers along the roads I wasn't about to go way out of the way.

Yes just happened to me tacking the wrong turn in my way London.

I was in panic and moved and moved, but had faith in your advise until finally the GPS pointed me an alt. route. That was much better than planing a crazy turn crashing and all.

Thanks guys

You're welcome :-)

With the latest version you can set upto 10 way points on your sat nav, if I make a bad turning, I open the map and generally look for alternative routes. it might be longer, but there is generally a way - If not, then find someplace like a petrol station, hotel or some other area large enough where you can make a turning. spawning, calling rescue etc I consider as cheats so if you don't want to cheat, then don't do that - if you're late - then so what... accept the lost and next time make sure you don't miss a turning. Yes it's a pain when you do and have to drive a long way to turn around, but that is part of the game!

I find the waypoints in the sat nav quite useful now, hope they added this feature to ATS when that comes out!

Turn around? Why not just stop and back up? Use your mirrors. Put your hazard flashers on. Might collect a few cars who were behind you, if you're unlucky, but never mind that; they're only AI.

i just keep going until the nav gives me an alternative...

If you want the game to remain realistic do what you would do in real life, keep driving until you can get to another turn off. That's how I play it anyway. :)

Exacty :) With time you will learn to look out for the junctions in advance and be in the correct lane for the turnoffs
