Is g29 better than g27?
The Logitech website doesn't even list G27 as part of their products anymore. There are some support articles and driver downloads, but that's about it, so I guess that wheel is pretty outdated now?

Instead they have a G29 wheel, which I guess is newer, but it looks more like a toy with all those XBOX/PS4 buttons on it. Does anyone have it? Is it a better wheel? Buying the G29 from Logitech is actually cheaper than finding a reseller that has a new G27, so I'm curious to know which one actually works better, because the toyness look of the G29 is ringing some alarm bells...

I have the G25, the wheel before the G27. The only difference between them are the buttons on the wheel itself. I think also the G27 is better, It's more like a real car.

G27 better

From a build quality stand point, they are almost identical, all the internals are the same give or take the changes to adopt the extra wheel buttons and ps4/Xbone compatibility.

It really comes down to looks, I prefer the spartan G27 wheel and having the buttons on the gear shifter (remember the G29 doesn't include the shifter).

They only issue I can see with the newer wheels is that having the buttons haphazardly all over the wheel can be a pain if you need to hit a specific one while turning the wheel. But since ETS2 isn't exactly a racing game, it might not be a problem for most people.

The only downside with build quality is the fact they still use plastic encoder rings, an issue that has plagued G25 onwards.

All in all, I don't think you would be unhappy with the G29, but for me personally, I would try and get a G27. (and in fact I did, just before Xmas I managed to find a G27 2nd hand very good condition for £90)

Though the wheel I use is a Driving Force GT, the G27 seems to be the better one as it looks more simulation oriented. The extra buttons will be nice on the G29 but it's not like the G27 didn't have enough. In function they're mostly the same. Same paddle shifters, same dimensions. What makes the G29 truly inferior in my opinion though is that it is not bundled with a normal gear shifter.

G27 is better for trucking. Especially the G27 shifter, as it has a buttons. The G29 is possibly better for racing games and is kind of an improved DFGT...
