It really comes down to looks, I prefer the spartan G27 wheel and having the buttons on the gear shifter (remember the G29 doesn't include the shifter).
They only issue I can see with the newer wheels is that having the buttons haphazardly all over the wheel can be a pain if you need to hit a specific one while turning the wheel. But since ETS2 isn't exactly a racing game, it might not be a problem for most people.
The only downside with build quality is the fact they still use plastic encoder rings, an issue that has plagued G25 onwards.
All in all, I don't think you would be unhappy with the G29, but for me personally, I would try and get a G27. (and in fact I did, just before Xmas I managed to find a G27 2nd hand very good condition for £90)
