Mod update
Hello truckers, how do I convert a mod from an old game version (1.21 in this case) to the most recent one? Could anyone help me? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your reply, Nono54Fr. I think I didn't make myself clear.
Let me explain: I have two mods, one is a pack of trailers and the other a pack of trucks, that were made to work with version 1.21. On version 1.22 the game tells me that they are incompatible. How do I know if they can be converted to work on version 1.22 and how do I do that? Thank you in advance.

Just edit the manifest file in the mods and remove the "compatibility" line.

There's no major changes in 1.22 from 1.21 so they should work. It's just the manifest file that has been set to 1.21x by the sound of it.
Cool , new mode !

You were perfectly clear and my answer was what you asked, how to convert older mods to the newer update and as you can see, there is nothing affecting trucks & trailers but you failed to mention that.

Thank you for your reply, surroundedalone. I didn't make the mod and it won't be updated, according to information I got from the creator. I know that I have to open the mod file (.scs) in order to reach the "manifest" file, but how do I do it? I tried to look up for specific tutorials and instructions on that matter but I couldn't find anything useful. Can you help me giving me some instructions or pointing me to any database? Thank you in advance.

Just double-click on said mod, and it'll open up with WinRar/7zip like any other archive. You don't need to extract anything either. The manifest file is just a simple text document, so it can be opened/edited with Notepad... once the changes have been made and you save, you'll be prompted to update the archive.

Thank you for your reply, UrsidaeClay. That's what I tried to do but both applications are unable to open the .scs mod file, they give a message saying "file corrupted or unknown". Yet, I tried other .scs mod files and they can be opened. I think that the .scs mod file I'm trying to open isn't possible! Somehow it is working on the game, I mean, on the previous version.

I've had that "corrupted" error before, sometimes re-downloading does the trick. If you can, try downloading from a different source than where you first got that mod from.

Assuming the mod worked fine prior to updating your game, then it is likely the mod is 'locked' by the author.

There are ways around it, but the easiest option is to check and see if the mod has an official update by the author. If they used the compatibility line then the mod is likely still getting updates from the author.

If you let us know what the mod is and where you got it, it would be a lot easier to help you with it.

Hello again, guys! Thank you so much for your attention so far! It means a lot to me! I tried to download the mod from all the sources and the result is the same. I think that it is because the mod was packed into an executable file (.exe) for installation. Probably the creator thought it would be better for users to install. Also, as I mentioned before, that's a trailers pack and the creator told me he will not update the mod by himself no more, but I could "open the file, edit it by myself, and use it in the game". Anyways, I leave the links if you could try it out by yourselves let me know about any news! Thank you in advance!

Quick update:

There is also a trucks pack that goes the same way.

Also this is their web page: http://amocaminhoes.com/

They are creators of "Mapa EAA". A mod that add Brazilian map besides Europe. Pretty cool! ;-)

Eh, no go mate. They've got it encrypted so one is unable to get into it at all, at least with the tools and knowledge I possess. Even downloaded EAA map itself, and it is the same story there too. It's a complete lockdown on all of their stuff it would seem.

So I'm afraid to say you'll have to go without those trailers/trucks. Or wait for them to actually update it. My searches came up with older versions of that mod, so clearly their devs have updated it from time-to-time. Perhaps they'll update in the future if there are enough requests for it from EAA users... it just may not be a priority for them right now so close to 1.22's actual release.

Hello, UrsidaeClay. Thank you for your reply and effort on researching about the matter. It's sad to know that the mod will not work with version 1.22, because it is a nice mod! About updating it the team's leader said that it won't happen anymore, due to a disagreement with the mod's creator. Apparently they went into a fight and the creator is no longer part of the team, unfortunately.

Thank you again! And have a great year!
