Cant assign controller buttons in "Keys and Buttons"

So Ive been using my xbox one controller perfectly fine for the whole time ive been playing this game (around 70 hours), but ive been getting kind of annoyed when i have to take one hand off the controller to go to my keyboard and turn on my turn signal. When I try to assign one of my D-pad buttons, or even any other buttons, the game thinks im using a keyboard and wont assign anything to the action, and will temporarily cut out my controller input until i use it again.

It sounds mysterious to my ears?
I myself use a cheap controller next to my steering wheel, where I have assigned a turn signal to a couple of the controller's buttons in keys and buttons.

Are you sure you did it right: selected the function you want to assign to a key, and then pressed the desired button on your controller?

if not work from briannos check the controller settings in steam i had that problem with fifa 22 changed the controler settings at the side of game in libary and it should work again fine if not i don't know how to help you

Turn off steam input, it probably interferes with the ingame gamepad implementation.

i turned off steam input in my steam settings, and i went through the setup wizard for my controller in game, still not working.

ok so im using joytokey for now, its extremely scuffed because im assiging y (which is to attach the trailer when im stopped) for my right signal, and x for my left signal. so i cant use my right signal when im fully stopped lmao

what were your options in controller drop down before? 'keyboard and mouse' etc.. anything that has x-input device or the name of your controller?

no i was looking there, the only options are keyboard, keyboard + mouse steering, or keyboad + mouse steering and pedals. i dont know why, becasue i can use gas, brake, steering, etc all fine.

You do not need JoyToKey .. Windows has native Xbox controller support built in.
- this might even be the cause of your problem.

As was said above, make sure Steam Input is turned off for this game, in your steam controller setting. Use only the in-game controller settings .. You can use the Keyboard keybind menu, but FIRST you have to set the Controller in the Wheel and Controller menu.
- You should have an option for multiple inputs as long as your controller was connected to your PC BEFORE you launched the game.

As for the actual keybinds, on my PS4 controller, I have the turn signals on the left and right BUMPER buttons, and the D-pad is set for the camera options (D-up = Interior look forward, D-left = interior look left, d-right = interior look right, and d-dn = cycle camera thru 1-8)

it still doesnt work. steam input is off everywhere and for every controller, even non xbox ones. my problem is that my xbox controller doesnt show in the dropdown menu.

Do you have "Pedals" ? .. because you have an option for M+KB+Pedals .. if you don't have Pedals, then your Controller is being seen as "pedals" .. Have you tried to use that option, and then configure your Controller?

Also, is your Controller hard-wired, or Wireless? have you tried plugging in a cable?

yes i have pedals and i tried it and it didnt work. my controller is wired, ive tried with wireless too.

Have you tried disconnecting the Pedals to see if your Controller is seen when they are not connected ?

Have you tried changing the USB ports that the pedals and controllers use, to see if it is an issue with your USB ports priority ?

i dont have pedals, i dont know why its showing. ive tried a few different usb ports and none of them work.
