The image also helpfully colour codes all the currently available map DLCs

No Hungary in base game.
That's very useful, saved.
Also a bit amusing, at least looking at British Isles and northwest continent. Luxembourg just being a dot, and how little of Wales and Scotland (nevermind Ireland) are included. Trying even to work out what some of the roads are meant to be there and why some little ones appear but big ones don't! Hopefully some town spelling goofs were corrected in-game after the map was made, too...
Maybe Ireland was dodged so they then wouldn't have to include Holyhead, Milford and/or Fishguard?
However you won't be able to drive in that area. if your friends drive into areas you don't own, you can't follow them....
Haha, OK. That could lead to some lulz but ultimately be not that fun overall. Guess I'll be picking up some expansions then.
Aw come on now, we WERE when the game launched. Plus then there's an excuse to have the channel crossing and the switchover for driving side and speed/distance units ;-)
And who knows we may yet return?
That does further beg the question of why no Eire though...
There is a map mod you can get called ProMods which expands the base map & rebuild it's existing areas be be more realistic, The UK being an area of particular improvement. Though it does require you to own all the currently available map DLCs for it to work, so probably best to stick with the base game for a while.
Here's an albeit slightly outdated version of what the PM map adds
