Saving settings for a new profile?
SInce there are many settings I like to know if it is possible to save them (all three!)?

There are several configuration files that are saved in your Documents ETS2 folder. Some are global for all profiles, others are profile specific.

If you want to remember your settings, e.g. for creating a new profile, you can write them down somewhere off-game, at least the most important ones. Screenshots, Notepad text file, Pen&Paper, whatever you prefer.

OK. I made screenshots but I hoped there is an option to save this settings and transfer them to new profiles since it is quite a lot.
If you stated this directly you would have gotten the following answer right away:
Just copy your profile config file and the config_local and replace the ones on the new profile with these. Do the same with the controls.sii file.

All three WHAT? Explaining things so that those who aren't you is important when you ask questions and want to get answers.

Keep in mind: No one in here can read you mind nor see your screen. The better you explain what you want to know the faster and better the answer will be.

There are three kind of settings. E.g. one is key bindings, the other is about realism etc.
It is simply about settings and saving them generally, Did you read my headline and if yes what did you not understand?

Yeah, there are many. So which ones you are talking about is kinda important. And your settings are saved by default.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You can indeed copy files between profiles. However you have have to really know what your are doing and which setting are saved in which file to not mess up everything.

Nothing is auto-magic. Whatever method you use means requires effort from you. No "a-couple-of-clicks-and-everything-works" magic. Work and knowledge.

That is one thing I hate about ETC, that the when I create a new profile I have set up all my settings again, I play with m/k and use the mouse for steering, and have it just how I like it, along with tobii eye tracker etc.

I found when I create a new profile, and have to redo all the settings. as soon as I start my first quick job, I save and exit out.

I then go to the profiles folder in explorer (you'll need to check the XXXX codes on your machine, and copy the files from the old profile to the new one.

Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\XXXXX

Files to copy:

config.cfg
config_local.cfg
controls.sii

And if you use gears maybe the Gearbox_layout files -- though I don't use gears, just simple ctrl/shift for up/down gear for me :)

But that usually does the trick... but before copying - BACK THEM UP!

Hope this helps.

My profiles folder is empty for some reason I dunno.

It seems they are now within this folder:
.../steam_profiles(1.60.3.1s)/xxxxxxxx

If you use Steam cloud it is in the steam_profiles folder.
