Side note: I would like to know how others opinions are on the new look. Is it just myself having an odd sense of aesthetics?

Since switching to vanilla only, flat ui was the only thing I missed, so personally I love the new look.
the new menu is nice
i like it
So, why not both?
It is unappealing, plain, boring, uninspiring and over simplistic(i know, its sole purpose of it) to the point that I question was it made in MSpaint or not. Hightlighting with color is gone, makes important stuff blend all together. It also misses some exit buttons in menues as pointed out on SCS forums by "Drive Safely" guy. Yeah it adds some new changes as well but its not worth it imho.
The previos one was way better, more signaling and nice to look and interact with.
I also dislike the new shade of red when going over the posted speed limit. It goes into sort of "white-red" and that IMO does not catch the attention of eye as well as the old "full" red color did... if you are a Star Trek fan - what would be most obvious telltale color of "hey, pay attention, something is wrong!"? bright full red or sort of whiteish-pinkeish red?
